The pro life generation is here

In a single moment, the devastating decline of the human abortion movement was revealed.
As background, yesterday was the 2nd annual Midwest March for Life. Despite lousy weather, despite a dire forecast, the pro life faithful bundled up to proudly march for life.
Des Moines, Iowa, is not known for hospitable weather in mid January. So why march now? Because the event roughly coincides with the anniversary of the Roe v Wade decision which overturned every single state law that protected the preborn.
That decision took place on January 22nd, 1973.  So we marched yesterday here in Des Moines. This week,  hundreds of thousands will gather in Washington D.C. to march in full force. (Prepare yourself for the annual news blackout on this event.)
Following prayers and a march from the Capital to the Court House through threatening skies, frigid temperatures, and spitting clouds, the crowd moved to the beautiful ballroom at the Iowa Events Center.
The ballroom filled up quickly.
Bishop Richard Pates of the Catholic Diocese of Des Moines, spoke movingly about the cause of life.
Iowa Right to Life Director, Jenifer Bowen, fought back tears in discussing the human holocaust precipitated by Roe v Wade.
And then Brian Kemper came to the stage.
Mr. Kemper is the Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life. Iowa Right to Life flew him in to speak at this pro life gathering.
He asked a question that silenced the room: “Will everyone who was born after January 22nd, 1973  please stand?”
Whoosh!
Easily two-thirds of the room stood up. Probably more. These people were 41 years of age or younger. As I gazed across the ballroom,  I was struck by how young most of the standing people were. There were teenagers and college students everywhere.
At the march itself, there was a sign everywhere that said, “we are the pro life generation.”
The pro life movement is comprised of youthful passion. It’s no wonder. Pro lifers have kids. Human abortion advocates, on the other hand, abort theirs when they’re inconvenient.
The National Abortion Rights Action League is worried. They admit that their own polling reveals they are losing young voters.
Their own survey found that 51 percent of pro-life voters age 30 or younger believe abortion is a very important issue for them when voting. Only 26 percent of pro-choice voters feel as strongly toward human abortion.
It’s gotten so bad for human abortion advocates that Nancy Keenan stepped down as head of NARAL last year out of acknowledgement that they are losing the under 30 voters. She said they need a “change of tactics.”
Brian Kemper broke the silence: “You survived Roe v Wade, but Roe v Wade won’t survive you.”
The crowd cheered.
He said it again, but this time, the standing youth joined in: “I survived Roe v Wade, but Roe v Wade won’t survive my generation!”
The crowd roared.
The pro life generation is here.
Human abortionists everywhere, beware, your days are numbered.
Time to update your resume’ and start looking for a more constructive line of work.
