Great news! Medicare now covers your sex change operation!

By Tom Quiner

Monday morning.

I arrived at my office.

Warmed up my coffee.

And then I picked up a shocking message. The pre-recorded message was apparently from the Department of Health and Human Services. The message repeated over and over again promoting Obamacare exchanges.

That’s not the shock. The message also informed me that Medicare now covers gender reassignment treatments and surgeries.

I did some quick research. Evidently, the ban against tax-payer funded sex change surgery, implemented during the Reagan years, was lifted by the Obama administration about a year ago.

You and I are paying to help sick people become sicker.

You and I are paying to market this service via robo phone calls.

Now, I don’t believe that there are many people over the age of 65 yearning to reassign their gender. But you never know, Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner may start a trend. It is odd, very odd, for HHS to proactively promote the treatment, especially in light of Medicare’s precarious financial situation.

Here’s the deal:  according to the 2014 annual report of the Boards of Trustees of the Federal Hospital Insurance and Federal Supplementary Medical Insurance Trust Funds, 41% of Medicare Parts A, B, and C are paid out the general fund.

Translation: subsidized.

Your payroll taxes only pay for 38% of these three parts of Medicare. They pay for 88% of Part A.

Medicare is an inter-generational ponzi scheme that asks the young, who make less money, to subsidize the old, who have higher net worths. Neither political party has the will to fix it.

So, for the Obama regime to add gender reassignment to Medicare coverage is a weird mix of delusion and depravity.

If Barack Obama had shot straight with the American people and said: “I want you to pay for your elderly neighbor’s sex change operation,” not only would he have lost the election, he would have been committed to the looney bin.

But here we are. While fewer doctors are willing to take Medicare patients because it reimburses them at less than their cost, the president adds sex change procedures to this broken system.

I don’t get it.

Lorra and Tiffinay, I’m trying to keep a sense of humor. It’s hard when truth is stranger than fiction.

Gender reassignment surgery is properly classified as cosmetic surgery. If Medicare is going to cover cosmetic procedures for transgenders, will it cover cosmetic procedures for cisgendered people? Because I would love to have cosmetic surgery to repair some of the damage done by four full-term pregnancies with very large babies, and I’m going to be eligible for Medicare in a few years…

Great idea! Maybe they can pay for a little more hair on the top of my head! Why should I pay for it if I can get the government to pay for it. That’s like getting it for free, isn’t it?????
