Jesus Himself hated the inactivity of those who were lukewarm. His statement in Revelations 3:15-16, “I know your works: I know that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either cold or hot. So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth,” tells us we need to be decisive.

You have no idea how frustrated I used to get about the inaction of others. More than that, Tom, when I would be the only reasonable voice of dissension at schools, chambers of commerce, town councils, doctor’s offices, my workplace (a University) I would seriously be looked down upon because I openly lobbied for conservative principles. It came to a point where, I knew others did not like the policies but they would remain silent, and hang me out to dry. I was passionate about the truth and I had to fight against that passion so that I wouldn’t be condemned and all alone.

I am older, wiser, less a dove and more a serpent these days but I will never forget how other parents, town residents, professionals, even family, deserted me when I espoused Christian principles which I usually did for the safety of children. They learned early on that to get along they had to go along. In effect they sided with the liberals or became one of them. They became of this world. It was a very rare event where there was support for parents/residents who walked the walk and talked the talk. Alas, this is just another example of man’s inhumanity to man. To be indifferent is, in a particular way, worse than hatred we learn, as Jesus describes what He will do to those who are. To be indifferent is to silently acquiesce to evil (as Bishop Sheen laments) but the naive person will not know what she is up against with that type of person.

Liberals, because of their immaturity (man-made or God-ordained), must react commensurate to the pain of the consciences which cry out and provoke them to feel undeserving. To assuage their guilt, they must become “full of passionate conviction” for their own survival. It is the fight between God and the fallen angel. And we all know where they stand and who wins that battle.

Your experience, Barbie, is a microcosm of what went wrong in this country. God bless you for standing tall.
