Liberal comedian, Bill Maher, belittles WWII war heroes 8

By Tom Quiner

Bill Maher makes millions being nasty to nice people.

He safely surrounds himself with adoring fans who laugh at his every profane-laced putdown of people with whom he disagrees politically.

On the other hand, our World War II veterans sacrificed their lives to protect the free speech rights that allow the likes of Bill Maher to vomit his  brand of bile on high profile television shows.

Our WWII heroes were not surrounded by adoring crowds. They were surrounded by an enemy that wanted to kill them.

So when the Obama Government made the choice to blockade the WWII Memorial, most Americans were outraged. Not a liberal like Bill Maher.  He essentially called our WWII  heroes stupid:

“That was closed, so a bunch of the World War II vets knocked down the barriers and stormed it. And then I loved this, they posed for pictures with Michele Bachmann who showed up. Michele Bachmann, one of the people most responsible for shutting the f*ck&#g thing down. They’re the greatest generation – nobody said they were the brightest generation.”

He also called Ms. Bachmann and Sarah Palin “boobs.”

Imagine the uproar if a conservative called Hillary Clinton a boob.

Imagine the uproar if a conservative called WWII heroes dumb.

  1. Are you saying that the OMB ordered the WW2 Memorial shutdown exclusively or they gave the order, based on the fact that we are in a shutdown, for all to go into shutdown mode?

There is a huge difference. Do you see how this could be misrepresented?

    • I’m saying there was nothing to shutdown. It’s not a building. There are no guards or staffers. It’s outdoors. Why would they barricade it, especially since they knew the Honor Guard was flying in? Seems like an unfriendly thing to do our nation’s heroes who may be too old to return again.

      • The government, which includes the military, is all about procedures for everything. Why did they close down Saylorville bridge? Because that is the procedure during a shutdown.

It would be one thing if the memorial was the only federal facility that closed down but every federal facility including monuments and parks got shutdown. They shut them all down in 1995 also. It wasn’t a surprise.

This type of tactic may work for those who already hate Obama but it is at best a short sighted strategy for everyone else. The tea-partiers aren’t afraid Obamacare will fail. They are afraid it won’t. Otherwise, they would have let it fail because of th political points they would score. Instead they chose to shutdown the government over an existing law. Whenthe dust settles, people will look back and ask why the Republicans kicked and screamed all those years.

CNN did an on-the-street interview about Obamacare vs. the Affordable Care Act. No one wanted Obamacare, but most thought Affordable Care Act sounded ok. They all liked no pre-existing conditions and allowing your kids to stay on your policy until they are 25.

Ironically, Republicans could have made a big stink about the web site not working, but its a minor story now in context to the shutdown.

  2. Him saying they are the greatest generation seems to pass you by I think (Please correct me if I am wrong). The point about being not so bright, is the fact they they protest the shutdown of the memorial (Which most people would do) yet pose for a picture with one of the instigators of the shutdown. This would seem very strange, don’t you think?

Please tell me where I am wrong as I am an outsider looking in.

    • It would depend on whom you blame for the shutdown, which is a debatable point. There was no need to close down the WWII Memorial, since it is open air. The Obama White House proactively and unnecessarily barricaded it hoping to pin blame on the Republicans. Thanks for writing.

      • I have yet to see your source of how Obama or his staff personally ordered these barricades especially with the intent of blocking WW2 vets that day.

      • Joe- Come on, seriously? You know they ordered the monuments closed to be an inconvenience for those visiting Washington DC, so they could turn around and try to blame it on Republicans. In reality, it is the Senate who is responsible for the shutdown. The GOP controlled Congress has sent several bills to the Senate that would fund everything but Obamacare, and they have rejected every one of them. It is Congress’s job to write the budget. If they don’t want to fund Obamacare, they don’t have to.

Not sure how Obamacare is even legal. They did it through “reconciliation”. Has there EVER been a bill this HUGE that went through the reconciliation process rather than pass the whole Senate? They did NOT get the 60 votes necessary to end the filibuster so they changed the rules. Go figure. The libs will force anything through any which way. It’s ridiculous. And the American people hate it.
