Bluster vs. blather 6

By Tom Quiner

The president blustered:

“I was down there a month ago, before most of these talking heads were even paying attention to the Gulf. And I don’t sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar; we talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick.”

The president’s pretentious anger was targeted at BP Oil after the 2010 spill in the Gulf, as reported by Reuters.

What happened to all that bluster in light of the disastrous and embarrassing debacle known as the Obamacare exchanges? Why is the president so muted?

He tepidly weighed in with this gem before an adoring throng:

“So I want to take, ah, a little bit of time today to speak with you about the reforms we are making to our healthcare system. There has been a lot of confusion but let, let, let me try to explain what’s in the law.  I know that, uh, uninsured Americans … ahh … that [long pause] … uh … and, and … [another long pause] and, and here’s … wh, wh, what is it that everybody … what is it [laughs nervously] … hold on, I know what I’m talking about … na, na, na, look … I want to be honest … I have never felt so scared and helpless in all of my life …uhh … uhh …”

This is an exact transcript of his unscripted (obviously) remarks earlier this week in Maryland.

Bluster vs. blather.

Phoniness vs ineptitude.

Which do you prefer?

Tough call.

  1. I assumed that the video (of Barry “explaining” Obamacare) was edited to remove any intelligent, focused content?! Was that not the case? And Monte,.. Yes, GW had his share of “flubs”., but Barry has cornered the market on outright lies, deceit and subterfuge!

    • Maxine, that is a very good question. Knowing how inarticulate he is without a script, you’d think his handlers would do everything possible to avoid putting the president in a position of talking off the cuff.

  2. He has a long ways to go to match the vernacular flubs of Dubya!
When he has books and calendars listing his daily flubs as President Bush had, then I’ll be impressed.
