The Cult of Hurt

By Tom Quiner

Pain is in the news.

ISIS burns a Jordanian pilot to death, recording his agonizing demise as a warning to the world to bow to their Cult of Hurt.

Human beings are torn apart in the womb on a daily basis, and the cult of hurt won’t allow restrictions on human abortion even when the victim can feel the agonizing pain of dismemberment.

Bryan Kemper, the Youth Outreach Director for Priests for Life, equates the two:

“I am going to say this and people will be upset but what Planned Parenthood and abortionists do to babies is no less evil then what ISIS did to that pilot. Let’s get this straight people, abortion rips humans apart while they are still alive and it is pure evil.”

Twenty-five years ago this month, a young woman suffered massive cardiac arrest, resulting in severe brain damage and a comatose state. During this time, her husband began a relationship with another woman, fathering her children.

He petitioned the court to “pull the plug” on Terry Schiavo and, despite motives that were suspect, won. Ms. Shiavo was denied food and water and starved to death. Upon her death, her husband received $750,000 that had been placed in a trust fund for Terry.

I heard Terry Schiavo’s brother speak last year at the Iowans for Life banquet. Bobby Schindler  wondered why it is considered “cruel and unusual punishment” to starve a death row inmate to death, and why it is a federal crime to dehydrate and starve an animal to death, but it is okay to do it to his sister, a human being.

Terry Shiavo’s death was grotesque, dehumanizing, complete with blood pooling in her eyes.

Bobby Shindler made it clear that through the clout of the ‘cult of hurt,’ euthanasia is here.

The Cult of Hurt is expanding its reach next week with the release of the soft core porn film “50 Shades of Grey.” It is about a guy who can only enjoy a woman who lets him hurt her.

This movie will attempt to romanticize abuse. If the number of hits on their online trailers is any indication, the Cult of Hurt is about to expand its reach.

Terrorism. Human abortion. Euthanasia. S & M.

All of these are assaults on human dignity.

The Cult of Hurt must be stopped, and it can only be stopped with a single weapon: the power of Christ’s love.

That’s it. Nothing else works. That means you and I, emboldened by the Holy Spirit, have to speak out against these evils. If we don’t, it will continue to spread.

Well stated, Mr. Quiner. The common thread through this Culture of Hurt (death) is that if you can defend yourself, then your life has value. If you are unable to defend yourself (fetus in the womb, a comatose person, the elderly, etc.) then it is acceptable to extinguish that life. It would seemingly represent a regression toward more primitive ethics than those associated with enlightened culture. Of course it is no coincidence that with the rise of secularism and leftist ideology, that this culture of hurt has emerged. Teach our children the value of all life and we have the opportunity to salvage our society. Uncommonsense66.com
