The foundation of political theater is the gotcha question.
It is a question asked by the mainstream media of a Republican candidate that cannot be answered without casting a conservative in a bad light.
The key to responding is to turn the question back on the biased reporter. That’s what Rand Paul did when asked if he would allow any exceptions for human abortion, such as rape or incest.
The question is a trap, focusing the debate on one to two percent of human abortions. Senator Paul threw the question back at the reporter by saying:
“Why don’t we ask the DNC: Is it OK to kill a 7-pound baby in the uterus?”
That shut up the reporter.
The new gotcha question is: would you attend a (so-called) gay marriage if invited? Of course, the question has nothing to do with being president. One Republican after another is being asked. The purpose of the question is to make the Republican look bad.
I like the response someone put up on Facebook tonight:
“Ask Hillary if she would drive a friend to get a third trimester abortion.”
The game is afoot. Republicans have to go on the offensive. Be prepared for retorts to the gotcha question.
