Supreme Court imposes so-called same-sex marriage on America

By Tom Quiner

“We know what’s good for the little people.”

That’s what the Supreme Court is once again saying in today’s court ruling that has contorted itself into a pretzel to discover that the Constitution says marriage is all about lifestyle.

Just as in Roe v Wade, the Court overturns state law and imposes immorality on us.

Here’s the irony: people with same-sex attractions have always been able to marry.

Always.

They have always been free to marry anyone of the opposite gender. By the same token, people with opposite-sex attractions were prohibited from marrying people of the same gender. There was no discrimination, since marriage was a secular institution designed to protect the fruit of the union of one man and one woman: children.

Marriage was all about children. Now it isn’t.

The ramifications are enormous. We have already seen how people of faith who embrace traditional one man/one woman marriage have been discriminated against. Just last week here in Iowa, Christian wedding vendors were forced to shutter their doors since they refused to host so-called same-sex weddings. Stories like this abound throughout the land.

With this ruling, anti-Christian discrimination will eventually move to the next level as liberal pressure groups demand that Catholic and Protestant churches perform so-called gay weddings.

Catholic churches, of course, will refuse as will many Protestant ones. Legal sanctions will follow, most likely with the threat to remove their tax-exempt status. That will be the kiss-of-death for many churches that operate on tight budgets.

Religious liberty and so-called gay marriage cannot co-exist. The Left has made that clear. Increasingly, so are the courts.

What a sad day for the United States of America. The First Amendment is in tatters.

I am devastated, Tom, but not surprised. I just did not allow myself to dwell on the inevitable all these months. Today will be filled with crying and prayer, for me and for many. I am forlorn, sick to my stomach. I have no desire to eat. I want all those who have been sitting on the fence to feel the wrath of our Creator. I want all of the liberal immorals (scum, if I may be so bold), those who have eschewed the wisdom of the ages, to know His anger and vengeance. I want justice! And then I think about my sins and of truth and charity and I must turn away from this pity party I am in right now. I must allow His mercy to be their providence, too.

It is so difficult to be charitable right now. I simply cannot accept that it is all about principalities and powers. We humans have free will and we make choices all along that influence the devastation with which we live. The United States chose Barack Obama and he has wrought such filth into the annals (pun intended, sorry) of our history. What havoc one perverted person can wreak on a people! When we liberate ourselves from God this is the result.

Thank you for extending your clarity (and charity) to my morning. Today will be such a trial for many of God’s faithful people.

I had the same, instant reaction myself when I saw the headline, even though I expected it. I had a very interesting and energizing meeting yesterday with a new client, who is a former Pentecostal who has become an evangelical Catholic. She reminded me that the Church is a hospital for sinners, like you and me. We want our brothers and sisters who are living sinful lives (gay or otherwise) in the Church where they can be nurtured and healed by God’s grace, love, and sacraments. This ruling is so damaging because it deludes many into thinking that the lifestyle is the moral equivalent of traditional marriage, which it isn’t. The Church is the key and only hope for curing what ails man, which is sin. Thanks for writing. Keep the faith!
