Planned Parenthood Demeans Women and Ignores Serious Questions

By John Rozycki

In an op-ed, a Planned Parenthood official urges Congress to ensure that all women have access to birth control without co-pay.  She tells of a woman seeking affordable birth control at Planned Parenthood.  Upon leaving, “she had one vital component in regaining control over her life: a prescription for birth control.  She now held her reproductive decisions in her own hands.”  Really?

Since when did birth control prescriptions become a vital component in regaining control over one’s life?  In contrast to the op-ed, the Affordable Care Act did not “guarantee” women the “right to control their own reproductive decisions?” Women have always been capable of exercising choice, discipline, and self-control.

A man is absent from the discussion.  What are his responsibilities?  Why is it all on the woman?  What ever happened to manhood, character, and commitment?

What about the side effects of birth control?  What happens when it fails?  Abortion?  If so, what is aborted?

When insurance companies provide “contraception coverage at no cost to the employee or her employer,” others will have to provide the funds.  Why do the choices of those requiring others to pay for their birth control trump those who are morally offended by it?
