Ignore “Truth”

Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett in “Truth”

The “Rathergate” scandal revealed media bias and deceit against conservatives.

A recap: Celebrity CBS ‘journalist’, Dan Rathers, ran a hit piece on candidate George W. Bush in the 2004 presidential election. The premise: that President Bush had curried favor to avoid Viet Nam and instead get a cushy spot in the Air Guard.

The allegation unraveled when damning documents against Mr. Bush turned out to be forgeries.

Forgeries. Story over.

The whole thing was a left-wing conspiracy concocted by Bush haters. The story was so phony that CBS producer, Mary Mapes was fired along with others involved in the hit piece. The incident lead to news anchor Dan Rather’s retirement the next year.

The Left never gives up in their attempt to rewrite history. Along comes Robert Redford in his new film, “Truth,” which stars himself as Mr. Rather and Academy Award winning actress, Cate Blanchett, as Ms. Mapes. The movie presents Rather and Mapes as heroes, when in fact, the record reveals them as biased journalists who let their prejudices override journalism ethics.

Heck, even Rather later admitted he shouldn’t have run the story.

It’s funny. The mainstream media bent over backwards to avoid digging into Barack Obama’s past. And yet, here we are, eleven years later, and they’re still trying to smear George W. Bush’s record.

Quiner’s Diner recommendation: avoid “Truth” if you love the truth.
