The cruelty of the minimum wage

Liberal policies have gutted black families.

Great Society programs replaced dads with a welfare check by creating perverse social incentives. Black illegitimacy rates soared from 1 out of 4 out of wedlock births in the early sixties to 7 out of 10 today.

Fatherless homes breed social pathology, including increased poverty for women and children, increased illiteracy rates, increased drug use, increased crime rates, increased murder rates, and increased black teen unemployment rates.

Recent decades have shown us that kids who can’t find jobs often join gangs.

Now, these same people who brought us the flawed $22 Trillion Great Society experiment want to impose a $15 minimum wage on small businesses who just can’t afford the tab.

Ed Rensi explains the significance of a $15 minimum wage. Mr. Rensi is the former CEO of McDonalds. Writing in Forbes, he said:

” …a $15 minimum wage won’t spell the end of the brand. However it will mean wiping out thousands of entry-level opportunities for people without many other options.

The $15 minimum wage demand, which translates to $30,000 a year for a full-time employee, is built upon a fundamental misunderstanding of a restaurant business such as McDonald’s.

In truth, nearly 90% of McDonald’s locations are independently-owned by franchisees who aren’t making “millions” in profit. Rather, they keep roughly six cents of each sales dollar after paying for food, staff costs, rent and other expenses.

A typical franchisee sells about $2.6 million worth of burgers, fries, shakes and Happy Meals each year, leaving them with $156,000 in profit. If that franchisee has 15 part-time employees on staff earning minimum wage, a $15 hourly pay requirement eats up three-quarters of their profitability. (In reality, the costs will be much higher, as the company will have to fund raises further up the pay scale.) For some locations, a $15 minimum wage wipes out their entire profit.”

So what will small business like McDonald’s do to survive? Hire fewer white kids, black kids, and even purple kids.

Teenagers are low-skill employees. Do you think an unemployed teen is going to find it easier … or harder to find that first job if the Liberal Elite force employers to pay them more than their skills are worth?

The answer is self-evident.

The unemployment rate for black high school graduates is already sky high at nearly 30 percent. It’s even higher for black teens still in high school.

A $15 minimum wage will only make entry level jobs even harder to get for these kids. In this light, the higher Wage is more than cruel, it is racist.

We have $17.29 as minimum wage in Australia, however we do not a 10% tipping system like you guys do.

Recommended tipping rates in this country typically range from 15% to 20%, but there is no tipping in the fast food industry as a rule of thumb. Thanks for weighing in.

Great. Now the liberals are making McDonalds look good. My world view has been shattered. If you need me, I’ll be in the corner praying for humanity.

    Nice article. #purplelivesmatter

Definition of a progressive: Someone who thinks you can’t legislate morality, but you CAN legislate prosperity.

Great minds, Tom! I recently posted the insanity of a $15 per hour minimum across a country with diverse costs of living. In a state with about the mean cost (Florida), only $11.10 per hour is needed to have a lifestyle equivalent with the $15 in CA and NY. In Mississippi, only $9.28 is required.

Mandating $15 in Florida, would be like $20.25 in the aforementioned “blue states.” A minimum of $15 in Mississippi, would be like a $24.25 minimum in CA or NY.

Yes, good point. A federal wage makes absolutely no sense.
