Newt Gingrich is a historian.
That makes him kind of unique among contemporary political figures who forget history; who rewrite history; and who sleep walk through history (his line).
At last night’s Republican National Convention, Newt Gingrich said it is no longer acceptable to have our leaders lie to the American people about the threat of Islamic terrorism. We can no longer ignore history.
The threat is real. It is profound.
Last week alone, 364 people around the world were killed in Islamic terrorists attacks. Last month, it was 2055.
Gingrich places President Obama and Hillary Clinton at the nexus of this political deceit.
Is Donald Trump the man to fight terror? I don’t know. Gingrich thinks he is. We know he can’t be worse than Obama. At least Donald Trump acknowledges the threat, and can actually name it.
This is the biggest issue facing America and the world. Here’s what I think would happen in a Trump administration: he would tap into the Republican talent we are seeing on the convention stage:
√ Christ Christie as an Attorney General more interested in prosecuting terrorists than releasing them from Guantanamo.
√ Rudy Giuliani as Secretary of Defense or State more interested in protecting American interests than apologizing to our enemies.
√ Dr. Ben Carson as an Attorney General who isn’t bound by political correctness.
√ Newt Gingrich as head of the Veterans Administration or Health and Human Services. Do you realize what a difference Gingrich could make?
I don’t like Trump. I do like the people who could be in a Trump cabinet.
Newt Gingrich is at the top of the list. Watch his speech. He addresses the world’s biggest issue head on.
