More Clintonian silliness

By Tom Quiner

The year is 1991.

The place is Little Rock, Arkansas.

Presidential candidate, Bill Clinton, made the following statement. Please read it carefully:

“Together, we can make America great again.”

I don’t mean to be irritating, but I’d like you to read it again.

Thank-you.

The year is 2008.

The place is a campaign ad for Hillary Clinton.

The speaker is once again Bill Clinton. Here is what Bill says. Again, read it carefully:

“It’s time for another comeback, time to make America great again.”

I know, I know I’m being pesky, but I must insist you read it one more time.

Done?

Okay. Let’s move to the year 2016. Another person, Donald Trump, is touring the country proclaiming:

“Together, let’s make America great again.”

He has a lot of fodder.

Our enemies no longer fear us.

Our economy is stagnant.

Obamacare is a failure.

Middle class wages are in decline.

The national debt continues to spiral out of control.

Race relations are in the toilet.

Americans are hungry to see their country made great again.

So what is Bill Clinton’s reaction to Mr. Trump’s reiteration of a Clintonian theme? He labels Trump a racist.

No, I’m not making this up.

Mr. Clinton, who happens to be a white Southerner, says:

“That message where ‘I’ll give you America great again’ is if you’re a white Southerner, you know exactly what it means, don’t you?”

So when Mr. Clinton, who remember is a white Southerner, used the same words as Trump, who is not a white Southerner and never has been, Clinton knew what he was saying. And he kept repeating it over the years, despite his acknowledgement today that it’s code words for racism.

Hmmmmm.

Why is it okay for the white Southerner to say it and not the white Northerner? Of course, it’s all a bunch of hooey.

Dear readers, what is a hypocrite?

Need I answer?
