The soul of a nation

By Tom Quiner

I will cast my vote tomorrow for the goodness of America.

Our experiment in democracy has embraced goodness as a goal, as a condition for living in the greatest country in the history of the world.

A Frenchman visiting this rugged country in the 19th century proclaimed,

“America is great because she is good. If America ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”

Yes, Alexis de Tocqueville observed something in this country he didn’t see in his own: goodness and greatness. They go together.

Goodness is defined by moral character, virtue and action that wishes the betterment of the other. The soul of this great nation is good.

This country has fought a war to free slaves.

It has fought fierce battles in the streets, the courts, and the legislatures to ensure equality of opportunity for all.

It has fought Nazism and saved half the world from enslavement. And then paid to rebuild its adversaries after whooping them at tremendous loss of life and cost to our national treasure.

This nation has sacrificially strived to make the world a better place at home and abroad.

America’s soul is good. It is exceptional.

It is exceptional because the country was not based on a philosophy, an ideology, or a theory. It was built on Truth. Rock-solid Truth.

Our Founders spelled out it when the they said  “we hold these Truths to be self-evident…”

They said that this nation, under God, would be built on the Truth that each human being is sovereign, that each of us is “endowed with fundamental rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Newt Gingrich once said “we are human within a fabric created by God,’ and “these rights are unalienable,” which means “no politician, no bureaucrat no judge can take them away from you.”

He warns in the video above that we are in grave danger of being transformed into subjects of a bloated federal government that has lost sight of the individual’s sovereignty.

The political winds of the Left don’t respect Life, Liberty, or property. To them, Pursuit of Happiness is nothing more than hedonism and lifestyle politics.

The soul of America is at grave risk.

I will vote Republican in the belief that the timeless conservative values that have served this nation so well have a better chance of nourishment under their watch.

A vote for the Left is a vote against our very sovereignty, against the dignity of man, and against our very freedoms.

Will the soul of this nation continue to be good?

It saddens me to say our nations heart is not brave anymore. Everyone needs to be protected from every unknown in life. All I know is history tells us no one will protect/take care of you w/o expecting something in return (reference the European serfs). They were “protected” by the nobility. The “selfless” nobility were frequently (not always) abusive of the serfs. My ancestors came here so their progeny could live, die, fail & succeed freely on our own. The end of that spirit and a loss of the trust in The Father has killed the “good heart” of America.

My wife and I voted early, and no, we didn’t vote for, HER! We want a passionate country, enjoy the freedoms our founders fought for, save the precious unborn, and worship our God, without any apprehensions. Celebrate the birth of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and yell at the top of my lungs, MERRY CHRISTMAS! I want to be able to keep my fire arm, and defend those who are persecuted. The PC crowd will no longer speak on my behalf. . I want to voice my opinion, and not be concerned as to who will be offended. This is my country. I served proudly for its preservation. God Bless America.
