Christians voted for Donald Trump as an act of self-defense

By Tom Quiner

In many ways, Donald Trump is an unpleasant human being.

I don’t need to count the ways. The mainstream media already has done it for us. At best, let us call him a flawed candidate.

And yet for all his flaws, he won the Christian vote. Among white, born-again evangelical Christians, he won 81% of the vote, with Democrats losing a net 5% of that voting bloc this cycle compared to last.

He won 52% of the Catholic vote, with Democrats losing another 5 points in this bloc from last election. Sixty percent of white Catholics went for Mr. Trump. These numbers come to us from a preliminary analysis by the Pew Research Center.

I heard Mr. Trump speak at a faith and freedom forum hosted by Frank Luntz last year in Ames, Iowa. It was clear that he didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about religion or God. Even more, he was pressed three times by Luntz into admitting that he had never asked God for forgiveness.

Ever!

I won’t speak for you, but I ask God for forgiveness every single day.

So why did Trump win the Christian votes so handily? Essentially, those Christians most likely to care about the issue of human abortion voted for Trump. We did it as an act of self-defense. I like the way Jonathon Van Maren framed the actions of Christians, writing on Lifesite News:

“This is not even to get into the fact that the Democratic war on religious liberty was so malicious it had them going to court to force nuns—a group called “Little Sisters of the Poor”—to fund birth control. Dissenters must be crushed, after all.

The simple fact is that Christians voted in self-defence. They voted to put the brakes on the relentless, eight-year-long assault not just on their values, but on their ability to live their lives unmolested without having radical progressives attempt to force some newly invented ideology down their throat or hang some new “phobia” label around their necks or garnish their wages to pay for medical exterminators to suction tiny human beings into bloody slurry. Most of these Christians are not activists. Most of them simply want to be left alone. But for eight long years, they weren’t left alone. And so this time around, they voted to give Obama and his progressive minions the hugest shove they could.”

It’s pretty simple. We’re sick of being molested. Trump positioned himself as the guy to stand up to the bullies.

That’s why Christians voted Trump.

A lot of us, after all was said and done, ended up voting for the candidate who doesn’t hate us. It was painfully obvious how much Hillary hates people like me, and I didn’t care to have a president who not only hates people like me but would jump at the chance to make our lives as miserable as possible.

Your comments pretty much summarize why I sided with the other “deplorables”!!

Everyone get to work now. Trump is already stopping auto jobs from going south. The MSM is talking out both sides of its face on this. Its like he knows the Left wont make the same mistakes again. He may only have 4 yrs and needs to put the pedal to the metal. We have the same issue. Get your family ready for some pretty rough stuff in 4 yrs. The reaction of the left to the election tells me they WILL NOT allow this again. They’re bad losers and really dedicated. I pray for many terms of constitutional presidents and congresses. We may not get it. Make the most of this. We can do so much as a people when we dont have folks actively seeking to harm us. The enemy is led by a spirit of hate for the foundation of this country. That evil one won’t go & retire now that HRC lost.

His choice of judges will be ‘uge. They can create a lasting Constitutional legacy that shifts more power back to the states, where it legally belongs.

May he place several constitutionally conservative judges in his term. I dont want folks to die. It’d be great if some of the really old ones would just retire and enjoy the latter years…under a constitutionally conservative SCOTUS.
