The song failed not once, not twice, but thrice.

I’m talking about the classic song from the Great American Songbook, “The Man I love.”

Written by the legendary songwriting team of George and Ira Gershwin, they attempted to place it in three of their musicals but had it bounced by the director each time.

It wasn’t that the song was lousy, it just didn’t fit the genre of musical theatre. It eventually became a hit as a stand-alone single.

The Youtube video above is taken from the television series, “The Young Indiana Jones.”

This song is an American masterpiece. Enjoy.
