Trump initiates a good piece of public policy

By Tom Quiner

I’m back from a ten day trip to Alaska.

I was frequently without internet access, so it was challenging keeping up with the news. While I was gone, I posted some back posts on the death of a truly evil man, Fidel Castro.

There’s another piece of news I’ve already blogged on that’s worth revisiting: “Obama and Trump on lobbying: a study in contrasts.” Donald Trump is taking a harder stance against lobbyists than either Barack Obama or Bill Clinton.

Dick Morris goes into more detail on this story above. It’s worth listening to.

Donald Trump said anyone who goes to work for his administration is banned from becoming a lobbyist for five years after they leave government service. Morris said Bill Clinton did the same thing, and then rescinded the order right before he left office!

Let us hope Trump doesn’t pull a Clinton and renege on his commitment to good government policy. I am encouraged by The Donald’s commitment to reduce the clout of government lobbyists.

It would be nice if there were constraints on lobbyists. In the private sector, people go to jail for things that even LOOK like insider trading. I don’t see a difference in that and folks passing laws and then going to work for the companies these new laws effect. It’s amazing how one goes to Washington upper middle class and leave a 100 millionaire. That swamp smells BAD.

So true. Depending on the report, the Clintons left the White House broke (at least according to Hillary) and are now worth somewhere between $100 million and $200 million. How? By selling influence via the Clinton Foundation.

The funny part is that NOW the left is worried about the appearance of impropriety on the part of Trump. There was no need to be concerned when it was Hiliary. Oh, and dont forget that there is “no evidence of intentional wrongdoing” in the case of HRC. Trump hasnt even taken office and I already hear the grumblings of the left that he’s still in charge of his companies. I hope he manages to dispense w/ his companies by his inauguration. I want him to deny the left of any extra oxygen. Ain’t it funny how the left can manage to not see an elepant in the room or even smell it…unless it’s the republican one?

It really would be funny if it weren’t so hypocritical. As always, great to hear from you.

Agreed, the the way the left feels entitled to apply rules to everyone else that they have no intentions of following themselves just feels so Castro-ish. Doesn’t it?

It does to me. But my opinion doesn’t count since I am a patriotic, white, pro life, heterosexual Christian male.
