How true! I tell a great Baptist joke or two and even crack up the Catholic folks I know. If one cant admit to the funny things that are part of the different Christian faiths, then one cant see the shortcomings of all the things that man tries to do..even at our best. I would definitely be afraid to do a Muslim joke. A friend of mine in the military told me she would have her wedding in the Jewish promised land. I said “Oh, you will get married in Israel?” She replied, “No…Bloomingdales!” We both laughed. I just cant deal w/ folks that don’t get that clean comedy is also a gift of God. I’ve known some very funny priests and ministers too.

Love the Bloomingdale’s joke. I was interviewing a great Catholic speaker on the radio a couple of months ago. I asked, “How can we know God has a sense of humor?” He responded, “Just look in the mirror.” I lost it!

HA! That’s funnier than Robin Williams’ joke about the plattapus being the proof of God’s sense of humor. Glad you liked the Bloomingdales joke. She was a really an interesting girl, and we would take turns going to chapel together…one week it was synagogue and the next a protestant service. I dated a young Catholic fellow in the military ( actually several and the old ladies of my clan were about to lose it, when I married a Mormon fellow. My mom said I finished them off.I’m pretty sure it was just plain old age. He ( the Catholic fellow) asked how I liked the service we went to w/ his family and I said it was nice but I was thinking God probably hears the Baptist’s prayers easier. He asked why that was. I said b/c The steeple transmits, while the cathedral dome may be muffling things a little. He laughed. It was really something. He was a really hard core Puerto Rican Catholic boy. I would NOT have made such a joke w/ his little momma. She really liked me, and I understand that’s an unusual thing when one not Puerto Rican dates the oldest or the youngest boy. He was the baby.

I’m glad you saw it as just a joke of a girl who takes God very seriously and religion not so much.
