Conservatism is constructive; leftism is destructive

Conservatism is constructive; leftism is destructive.

If you think about the flow of history, it seems obvious. Pick the issue, say abortion. Conservatives want to protect human life; the Left is okay with the destruction of human life.

Take the tax code. Conservatives want to simplify the code and minimize taxation, because they believe taxpayers know how to spend their own money more wisely and constructively than Big Government.

On the other hand, the Left wants a complex tax codes, since that bolsters their power over the people, and they want lots and lots of taxation for them to redistribute to favored classes who vote for them.

What an inefficient and destructive use of capital! We can see just how ineffective with a look at Barack Obama’s trillion dollar ‘stimulus’ bill which was design to fund ‘shovel-ready jobs.’ When the smoke had cleared a couple of years later, the Congressional Budget Office had to admit in their assessment that the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act was minimal. Jobs created cost taxpayers something like $4.1 million per job.

What a destructive waste of the sweat of American workers who paid the taxes.

Take protests. When conservatives rally or protest, they leave behind minimal mess, taking great pains to pick up after themselves. By contrast, Leftists leave behind tons of trash, smashed windows, and other forms of destruction of public and private property.

A former Leftist and current author, Dr. Danusha V. Goska, had an epiphany when she realized the destructive tendencies of the Left and the sense of hatred that permeated the movement. She describes visiting a leftwing chatroom:

“One topic thread was entitled “What do you view as disgusting about modern America?” The thread was begun in 2002. Almost eight thousand posts later, the thread was still going strong in June, 2014.

Those posting messages in this left-wing forum publicly announced that they did what they did every day, from voting to attending a rally to planning a life, because they wanted to destroy something, and because they hated someone, rather than because they wanted to build something, or because they loved someone. You went to an anti-war rally because you hated Bush, not because you loved peace. Thus, when Obama bombed, you didn’t hold any anti-war rally, because you didn’t hate Obama.

[Which explains why Obama didn’t receive criticism for ordering bombings, in contrast to the Left’s reaction to Bush or Trump.]

I experienced powerful cognitive dissonance when I recognized the hate. The rightest of my right-wing acquaintances — I had no right-wing friends — expressed nothing like this. My right-wing acquaintances talked about loving: God, their family, their community. I’m not saying that the right-wingers I knew were better people; I don’t know that they were. I’m speaking here, merely, about language.”

Dr. Goska’s description of the Left helps explain what seems to be an unhinged reaction to the Trump presidency from the political Left.

They don’t like Trump. I get it. Readers of this blog know how I railed against him during the campaign. But he won. Republicans licked their wounds when Obama won. They began developing white papers and a road map for American prosperity called “A Better Way,” led by their intellectual guru, Paul Ryan.

In other words, they put forth constructive plans that help them regain power. I am seeing no such constructive efforts from the Left, only hate, anger, and destruction. Let me close with my thesis:

Conservatism is constructive; leftism is destructive.
