Democrats’ history of antagonism towards African Americans

Professor Carol Swain details the Democratic Party’s sordid treatment of Blacks down through history in the video above.
Their mistreatment has continued since the passage of the Civil Rights Act in 1964. The mistreatment has taken a different form, which I characterize as ‘mock benevolence.’
Democrats champion lavish, vote-getting welfare programs which have bred dependence on the state and broken up Black families. In spite of the destructive consequences of Lyndon Johnson’s “Great Society” programs, Democrats have doubled down in their mock benevolence by expanding the programs which have collectively cultivated social pathology of shocking proportions in the Black community.
As a way of mitigating the astronomical crime rates within the Black culture, Democrats aggressively promote human abortion through their surrogates, Planned Parenthood. Some 53% of Black babies are aborted, which has reduced the birth rate in the African American community below replacement levels.
How utterly heartless.
The Black community knows that education is their ticket out of the ghetto. But even on this front, Democrats are obstructionists. African-American parents love charter schools and school choice, because their kids perform better in them.
Teachers’ unions despise them, because they reduce their clout.
Teachers unions are even more important supporters of the Democratic Party than Blacks, and so Democrats block the educational reforms Blacks beg them for.
The Wall Street Journal wrote about Democrat’s latest efforts to thwart their Black constituents in the most liberal state in the union, California:
“As union schools lose students (and thus taxpayer funds) to charters, the school board has become even more reactionary. Last month the board voted to support three bills before the state legislature in Sacramento that aim to limit autonomy for charter schools. One would prevent charters from appealing rejections by local school boards to county and state boards. The appeals process is one reason charters in Los Angeles have been able to expand despite school-board resistance.”
The Democrats’ history of antagonism towards Blacks continues. Mock benevolence defines their ‘outreach’ to a community decimated by liberalism.
Interesting timing since we were just discussing Johnson’s ‘Great Society’ program last night.
JFK, a democrat, didn’t seem to have much interest in the civil rights movement. Those protesters were really getting in the way of his programs.
The southern Democrats were terrible to blacks.
The Dred Scott decision is one of the worst on record. It’s painful to read.
How does history get twisted in this way? It’s curious to me.
Who controls our schools? The only way you can avoid politically-correct history (aka liberal revisionism) is to home school, where outcomes of the Great Society can be more honestly discussed. For the record, it’s not all bad … or all good, but the Great Society is a mixed bag … at best.
Home school allows a kid to hear/read what isn’t allowed in school. My girl gets more of the story from more sources, but we must also investigate WHAT sources they are. I’d be wary of a free gvt provided (and recommended) program at home.It presents the same nonsense at home as is taught at schools. When using these free home school options, one should provide outside sources. I found, just doing extensive investigation of my family history, that much of what is taught as fact in schools is false. I found evidence that women in my lineage not only inherited title and property, but also willed it to others. I was sure that was not something that happened based on my education, but I found the wills showing it to be true. Liberals make up history as they go, and the schools and media happily help them. We discuss the help the Great Society provided to groups lagging and also the eventual harm the programs did. One is not allowed to mention the devastation these programs caused in already struggling communities in schools.As home schoolers, we worry that our girl may not fit into the socialist utopia our gvt is building. Better informed may not be better, if it’s punished. I’m afraid it may be.
Several questions….what has this cultivated in rural white communities which are the largest consumers of welfare programs? How do you respond to the many reports that charter schools as an aggregate are unpredictable and plenty have failed? How do you respond to the fact that not everyone can attend a charter school, and that “school choice” severely impacts poor parents with low transportation options, and can result in segregation due to racial optics(which happens now to a varied degree)? Do political parties remain the exact same over time, and if so do you know what a dixiecrat is? Do you know any teachers? Do you know why teachers support unions or why many Americans across the political spectrum support unions? This is a really weak argument and as patronizing as the “mock benvolence” you claim democrats extort. It suggests that somehow blacks are incapable of making up our minds and independent thinking. It suggests that somehow choice is the issue of public education when it is the fact that school funding is often very political and often the first thing cut in many districts and states. And even that is an over simplificiation. Articles like this do more to insult black folk than you realize regardless of where black folk sit on the political spectrum.
