“I was fired because I was a white woman”

By Tom Quiner

Picture the scene:

Screaming pro lifers take over a college campus. A young journalist approaches the chanting mob to get their story. Their spokesperson, who happens to be a white woman and a professor at that college, screams at the journalist to leave. When the journalist says he has a First Amendment right to be there, the professor cries out “to get some muscle over here!” and expel him.

At a different protest, the same professor is caught on campus blocking traffic on a public street. When she and her fellow protestors are asked to leave by the cops, they refuse, which compels the police to take more forceful measures to open up traffic lanes. The professor screams at the police, “F&*k you! F&*k you! F&*k you!”

Upon learning of this evidence, the university fires the woman.

The conservative, pro life professor then goes to the press and says she was fired because she was a white woman.

What’s wrong with this story? Let me count the ways:

  1. Pro lifers don’t take over college campuses.

  2. They are more like to pray than scream.

  3. They are unlikely to use profanity.

  4. They oppose violence, and wouldn’t call for “muscle” to rough up the media.

  5. They like to talk to the media in an attempt to straighten out their many misconceptions about Planned Parenthood and Big Abortion.

  6. They are unlikely to claim victimhood when they are sanctioned for bad behavior.

The story above DID happen, but it didn’t involve pro lifers. I wrote it about in my previous post, “The marketplace responds to the degradation of higher learning.”

A leftwing university professor was involved in a large-scale protest involving race victimization. The university fired her for bad behavior, specifically for calling for “muscle.” Muscle is code word for a threat of violence, or actual violence, if you don’t comply.

The professor, Melissa Click, like any good leftist, claimed victimhood. She was fired, she claims, for being a WHITE woman:

“This is all about racial politics. I’m a white lady, I’m an easy target.”

Let’s think about that. Colleges are bastions of identity politics. They have established policies which favor women over men, blacks over whites and asians, rape victims over victims of false rape charges, homosexuals over heterosexuals, and so on.

Ms. Click IS a member of a protected class. However, she poses an interesting question: would she have been fired for such irredeemable behavior if she had been black instead of white?

I’m not sure. What do you think?

In the meantime, the identity politics of the Left continues to divide and corrode our country.

Oh, absolutely. Of course it’s easy to make a point preaching to the choir. I think this would go right over the heads of the left. Did you see the interview of the ANTIFA leader where he actually claimed they only use violence when attacked by conservative racist, xenophobic fascists attacking them? When asked if the police horse stabbed repeatedly in the neck was those things, He said “yes”. I’ve ridden many beasts of burden from horses to camels and elephants. NONE were ANY of those things. Where were the liberal animal rights activists? Such a point as yours will never speak to souls of the ardent leftist liberal. Liberalism today is a severe mental illness.

True. Leftism is built on rage, not rational thought. Thanks for writing. Good points.
