21st century hate in America

By Tom Quiner

I am struck by a singular phenomenon in American political discourse in recent years. If you disagree with leftist social justice prescriptions, you are a hater.

Disagree with human abortion? You hate women.

Disagree with the Black Lives Matter movement. Then you hate Blacks.

Think people should be judged by the content of their character rather than their skin color? Then you are guilty of cultural appropriation for quoting Martin Luther King, and you doubly hate Blacks.

Disagree with climate change theology? Then you hate humanity.

The list goes on. Disagree with gay marriage and taxpayer funded sex change operations, then you hate gays and a variety of other colorful pronouns with which this blogger can’t keep up.

When conservative speakers visit college campuses, the Left shouts them down, barricades doors, threatens them with violence and either screams, cries, or both if their efforts of snuffing out conservatives’ First Amendment rights fail.

The obvious question is: who are the haters?

What is glaring about the Left is their lack of Christian religiosity compared to conservatives. Love thy neighbor defines Christianity. A martyred Polish priest, St. Maximilian Kolbe, left behind this quote which is relevant for our age:

St. Maximillian Kolbe

“Hatred is not creative, it is simple and easy. Only love has a creative power that captures souls” – St Maximilian Kolbe

God is Love. God so loved the world that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to give us life, and to save our sorry souls.

Honorable people can disagree, but the only way to move beyond disagreement is to have common ground in some area, and build upon this common ground.

That common ground no longer exists with the secularized and shrill political Left. Until God breaks into their lives, we will continue to be subjected to their angry rants magnified by their allies in the mainstream media. Their behavior is not creative, it is simple and easy … and destructive.

It looks like a fallen angel is making real progress in his mission in the 21st century. We were told we would be hated for loving Christ, but I dont think most of us believed it. At this rate, we can expect real persecution to start in our lifetimes.
