The evil of tolerance 2

By Tom Quiner

Tolerance is a con.

The Left has used it as a weapon to promote human abortion and a wide variety of sexual deviancy.

The same people who demand that people of faith tolerate perversion shout down anyone with whom they disagree, while labeling them as “haters.”

Archbishop Charles Chaput explains in the meme above.

In 1931, Archbishop Fulton Sheen famously called for an increase in INtolerance:

“America, it is said, is suffering from intolerance-it is not. It is suffering from tolerance. Tolerance of right and wrong, truth and error, virtue and evil, Christ and chaos. Our country is not nearly so overrun with the bigoted as it is overrun with the broadminded.”

“Tolerance is an attitude of reasoned patience toward evil … a forbearance that restrains us from showing anger or inflicting punishment. Tolerance applies only to persons … never to truth. Tolerance applies to the erring, intolerance to the error … Architects are as intolerant about sand as foundations for skyscrapers as doctors are intolerant about germs in the laboratory.

Tolerance does not apply to truth or principles. About these things we must be intolerant, and for this kind of intolerance, so much needed to rouse us from sentimental gush, I make a plea. Intolerance of this kind is the foundation of all stability.”

Let us a start a revolution of intolerance towards the evil that now so defines the Left.

  1. I agree….somewhat… The problem is that our first response as Christians when we see someone doing something that is sinful should not be shaming them but should be loving them. I see too many fire and brimstone Christians that try to shame someone for being gay or for committing adultery or what have you. That should NEVER be our response. In fact, responses such as this lead to destruction: destruction of friendships, families, sometimes lives. I know of a child who took his life because his parents could not accept that their son was gay. They shamed him and berated him over it, until enough was enough and he ended it.

I have too many gay friends and students and former students who are homosexual to believe that this a “choice”. It is biological, or at a minimum, the tendency is biological. Their chemistry is different, their brain scans are different.

I am sorry if I took this off on an unintentional tangent, but I feel this single issue is the one that most plagues Christians today. We need to remember that WE are not the ones who will judge sins and sinners.

    • I agree with you … somewhat. Even largely. You’ve heard the Christian mantra: “hate the sin, love the sinner.” That morphed into “tolerate the sin” which morphed into “unless you love the sin, you are a hater.” As Christians, we are called to lead our sinning brothers and sisters toward the path of life, not live in the path to death, don’t you think? I agree that some people are born with same-sex attractions, but research indicates that a big chunk have had their sexuality affected by psychic wounds experienced in their youth. In other words, they weren’t “born that way.” Some 48% of men with same sex attractions were molested when they were boys. In other words, their attractions aren’t based on biology, they’re based on trauma. These people need a ton of love and therapy to help them get back on the path to life.
