Donald Trump is the most compassionate president in a generation

By Tom Quiner

Donald Trump is a man of rotten character. I won’t list the ways, because the list will inevitably be quickly outdated. (I’ll leave it to Democrats and the mainstream media to do so, because that seems to have become their only reason for existence.)

Having found common ground with the Left in this blog is a rare thing. I will quickly destroy the reverie with my observation stated in the headline above: Donald Trump is the most compassionate president in a generation.

Feelings vs. Actions

Liberals bristle at such a notion, because they gauge compassion by feelings, not actions, which explains why liberals give less money to charity than religious conservatives. Liberals let the government (taxpayers) pick up the tab; conservatives reach into their own pockets.

If we consider actual results, the Trump record is impressive.

ISIS is decimated

For example, ISIS has been pretty much gutted during the Trump presidency. As a reminder, ISIS kills, rapes, enslaves, and destroys. Eradicating killers and rapists is an act of compassion for peace-loving people living in Syria, Iraq, and at-risk nations in the Mid East and Africa, don’t you think? While Obama sneeringly labeled ISIS the JV team and pontificated about imaginary red lines, Trump acted.

Lives are being saved and fewer women raped and sold into sexual slavery thanks to President Trump’s compassionate actions.

Compassionate wage policies

On the domestic front, Catholics believe decent jobs and wages are an important aspect of the social justice fabric of a community and a nation. Under Obama, job growth was stagnant. So were wages. And Black unemployment was high.

Under President Trump’s more compassionate economic policy, Black unemployment is at its lowest point since the 1970s. Hispanic unemployment is the lowest in 17 years. In fact, unemployment is down for everyone. Even more, tax reform signed by Trump and opposed by every single Democrat in Congress, will put more money into the pockets of working class Americans.

Since tax reform, corporations are beginning to create jobs again. They’re handing out bonuses and wage increases. While Democrats fixate on the minimum wage, Trump has taken a more compassionate approach by making the minimum wage obsolete in the wake of higher paying jobs for everyone. The dignity of work and decent wages is so important to those of us who take the social justice teachings of the Church seriously. Everyone, except for Democrats, has to appreciate this more compassionate approach to our economy.

Sensitivity to our religious freedoms

I also like the way President Trump has taken a more compassionate and Constitutional approach to religious freedoms than former President Obama. While Obama tried to club the Little Sisters of the Poor into providing abortifacients for their fellow celibate nuns and other employees, Trump undid the HHS mandate. Obama was a real bully in efforts to impel people of faith to violate their religious convictions. Trump has taken a more compassionate approach.

A president who stands up for the little guy

The single most important social justice teaching of the Church is the sanctity of Life. President Trump has been one of the most compassionate presidents on this issue since Reagan. Heck, he may have even surpassed Reagan.

He has consistently appointed pro life leaning judges to the bench.

He signed a bill which permits states to defund Planned Parenthood.

He pulled the plug on sending your tax dollars overseas for human abortion.

He defunded the pro abortion United Nations Population Fund which has been complicit in China’s population control efforts, which includes forced abortions.

Trump’s HHS forces insurance companies to disclose if their plans include human abortion, so men and women of conscience can avoid these products.

He essentially undid Obama’s HHS mandate, as noted above.

He has consistently supported and appointed staunch pro lifers, such as Vice President Mike Pence, Attorney General Jeff Sessions, Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway, and Teresa Manning at HHS, to name a few.

Democrats oppose born alive legislation, Trump supports it

He will sign the Born Alive Abortion Survivor Act should the Senate pass it. The bill requires doctors to fight to save the life of babies who survive abortion attempts. This should be a no-brainer, but it isn’t. Every Democrat in the House, but six, opposed the bill which was voted on yesterday as the March for Life took place.

What heartlessness.

Trump stakes out a more compassionate approach on these little people who have practically the entire Democratic Party pitted against them.

Is Donald Trump a jerk? No doubt.

Are his policies compassionate? If you go by results, his is the most humane presidency in a generation.

      How would that paragraph read?

Why do we need a paragraph on immigration? You break the law, you must pay the consequences. The Dems. would rather go with their feelings, as they feel that illegals have more rights than the citizens of this great country. Compassionate liberals? Give me a break.
