I know this will make my liberal readers mad. But I have a simple word for our nation’s brave soldiers who paid the ultimate price for our country: thank-you.
I think that overwhelming sentiment of “Thank you” is common to Americans across the political spectrum. My late dad and uncle were proud WWII vets and proud liberals. No reason for anyone to get mad today, we just share our pride and gratitude and sorrow.
I’m reacting to the treatment Viet Nam vets received. President Obama yesterday acknowledged how maligned they were by the Left: “You came home and were sometimes denigrated when you should have been celebrated. It was a national shame.” I think you are largely correct in your assessment. However, there are still lots of folks on the Left who revile our brave service men and women. Many of these Lefties have made it into the mainstream media and institutions of higher learning.
