Do you feel, Tom as I do that trying to convince people with the facts is as useless as carrying coals to Newcastle? There may be a pulse but there’s darn little brain activity.

Sometimes I feel that way. And then I hear from a Quiner’s Diner reader who forwarded a post from a few months ago to his entire family. The piece was on Downs Syndrome. His family has a member with Downs. My piece struck a chord and pulled them to the Catholic position on Life, which happened to align with the Republican position. That single piece pulled a half a dozen votes to the “R” column. I suspect you have had the same effect on some people, perhaps many. Some people are concerned about taxes; some on healthcare; some on abortion or gay marriage. I keep writing on various issues that mean something to me in the hope I can make a small difference in the way my community and country view the world. Most people who disagree with me tend to be intractable, but every so often, I break through, or you break through, or some conservative some where breaks through. It’s an ongoing process, isn’t it?
