All this 'God talk' makes progressives squeamish

What is so thrilling about the 4th of July?
It is the declaration that your rights are intrinsic, God-given, immutable, inalienable.
Progressives say you’re full of it. And thus we have the root problem of our nation’s seemingly intractable division. Our nation’s very DNA is ultimately rejected by powerful forces on the Left who are remaking our nation with alarming alacrity.
Thomas Jefferson wrote these thrilling words, which we celebrate every 4th of July:
“When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness.”
All that God talk is a red flag to progressives. The elites on the Left find that God cramps their style. It’s tough to talk about a woman’s “right to choose” when God says you have a fundamental right to life.
It’s tough to agitate for reverse discrimination and confiscatory taxes and other such public policies when God says you have a right to liberty.
It’s tough to redefine “pursuit of happiness” to mean gay marriage when God says such actions are sinful and harmful.
Yes, all this God talk makes progressives squeamish.
