FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT: “All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management.”
Disagree with this. I am a teacher, and though I do not like what the NEA frequently stands for politically, I still appreciate the legal support they give and the benefits they have collectively bargained for us.
Fair point, Shawn. I believe, though, that Roosevelt was referring to federal employees. Correct me if I’m wrong. Great to hear from you.
FDR never envisioned FICA taxes taking 15+% of income either — and the system would still be in danger of insolvency!
Heard a news headline (Fox Business News, I think) that government employees, I believe federal government employees are paid vastly more than counterparts in private sector. I hope to hear more about this. As an “Ex Fed”, I have always insisted that I was more than fairly compensated. However, my wife worked harder and was underpaidlll
Go figure!
