America needs fresh leadership
By Tom Quiner
Fourteen Americans dead, seventeen more wounded.
Were these deaths Islamic terrorism?
Here’s what we know:
- Syed Rizwan Farook, one of the shooters, was evidently a devout Muslim.
- He and his wife stormed his work place and killed his fellow co-workers.
- They planted bombs. They dressed in protective armor. They apparently had planned for the event.
What’s the prognosis? Work place violence, maybe?
We don’t know, but my previous cynical sentence reflects the frustration Americans have with President Obama’s knee-jerk response to every act of violence in our country, or even beyond.
He bends over backwards to avoid suggesting that an attack is Islamic terrorism. At the same time, he bends over backwards to blame pro lifers for the shooting in Colorado Springs a few days earlier, along with anyone who supports the Second Amendment.
And yet California has very strict gun control laws.
Writing for Commentary, Noah Rothman characterized the Obama-type reaction as “the smug radicalization of the left.”
He points out something amazing: Democrats hold fewer elected offices than anytime in the past century. They have purged the party of moderates, reducing their appeal to less ideological independent voters.
While Republicans engage in serious intellectual battles (with the exception of faux Republican, Donald Trump) over serious issues, Democrats disagree on few issues. Deviation from leftist dogma is vigorously enforced by their Thought Police, as Mr. Rothman points out:
“The conversation inside the left’s closed circle is a self-reinforcing one; dissent is hard to come by and is punished by the movement’s most dogmatic enforcers when discovered. There is no better example of this phenomenon than the humiliating display in which Democrats engaged amid – not following – the attack on civilians that occurred on Wednesday in San Bernardino, California.”
All the facts aren’t out yet on the San Bernadino issue. But does anyone believe that our unserious president who spends his time tilting at windmills is up to the task of protecting our homeland from the barbarians at the gate, and the ones already living within the gate?
At the same time Americans and Parisians and Mideast Christians AND Muslims are being massacred by Islamic terrorists, our president with straight face says that climate change is the biggest challenge facing the world.
Writing in the Wall Street Journal this morning, Daniel Henninger pointed out how increasingly pathetic this American President is becoming:
“His appearance in Paris this week was Mr. Obama’s last turn on the big global stage, barring a national crisis. Anyone watching the angular figure of the American president making nonstop pleas at the Paris climate summit this week had to be struck by a sense of what the French would call tristesse, a melancholy, even pathetic sadness.
He alone in Paris seemed to take seriously the notion that the climate windmills can be reset to less than 2 degrees Celsius above “preindustrial levels.” In the last of many public apologies for the U.S., Mr. Obama confessed that his own nation is a grievous “emitter.”
There is nothing that Mr. Obama does better than blame America.
As more funerals are planned thanks to Islamic terrorism, America counts down the time until fresh leadership can be installed to right the ship.
Tom-
Remember when I said (prophetically) that the media got it wrong that this was an attack on Planned Parenthood? I feel very vindicated now….
All world leaders including Obama will never condemn a religion because they realise the country is full of nutters who will find any excuse to vent their anger against this group with violence. It is up to the Islamic moderates to take full responsibility and sort out these radicalised idiots within their own faith. The breakdown of a society is when it cannot look after it’s own people.
Steve, your response made me think of something. After the shooting at Planned Parenthood, pro life leaders responded loudly and forcefully condemning the shooting. In unison, they said violence is the antitheses of the pro life message. Have we heard a corresponding outcry from moderate Muslims who condemn this week’s shooting in California? If we have, I’d like to know.
While the media were coyly declining to name the shooters, progressives everywhere were keeping their fingers crossed and praying desperately to whatever deity they pray to that it would be something to do with Planned Parenthood. They were so terribly disappointed when the truth — which everyone pretty much suspected all along — was finally (reluctantly) admitted.
So true. Great to hear from you.
