No matter who uses, it perjorative and defamatory language is never appropriate. That we have devolved to “name calling” instead of focusing on the real issues in an adult way is precisely the reason that we have come to the precipice of moral bankruptcy.
It might not have been polite of Rush to call Miss Fluke a slut, but what else would you call someone who has so much sex with so many partners that she’s forced to spend a thousand dollars a year on contraception? And what do you call an unmarried woman who is not ashamed to testify in front of Congress and the TV cameras that she’s having that much recreational sex? “Slut” is one of the milder descriptions that comes to mind.
Rush will never win any awards for diplomacy, but the reason people listen to him is that he calls ’em like he sees ’em and doesn’t pussyfoot around. He says what everyone knows to be true, but most of us wouldn’t have the nerve to say.
