Will there be a media blackout of the March for Life again?

If a few dozen Occupy Wall Street types gather to rage against the “1%”, the media will be there.

They will listen closely. They will write approving stories and spread them through the widespread outlets of the Mainstream Media (MSM).

This is news.

On the other hand, if a third of a million folks gather to march in the name of Life, the MSM yawns. If they even cover the event, it is token.

Their stories are not approving. They are perfunctory at best. When they write, they tend to be very short and they always, ALWAYS, underestimate the size of the crowds in order to downplay the widespread revulsion for abortion-on-demand policies that were born with Roe v Wade 39 years ago today.

NBC’s website had a headline this morning that said “Thousands expected to march” when in fact, the numbers of have been in the hundreds of thousands for over a decade.

The pro-life movement is growing. Gallup polls confirm the growing national concern for the killing of the preborn.

One of the quirks of social issues in our times is that as the young are becoming more tolerant of the idea of same-sex marriage, they are becoming less tolerant of abortion.

The movement has become so big that there is even a sprawling West Coast March for Life in the nation’s most liberal city, San Francisco. About the only place you can watch this inspiring support for the dignity of human life is on EWTN, the global Catholic network.

Watch the video above for a one minute recap of last year’s March.

Our prayers are with the marchers today.

I just wish more of those who go to the March for Life would get more involved in pro life work back at home. Gabriel Project, the pregnancy centers, the Iowans for Life and Iowa Right to Life organizations all need more help! But I’m praying for all those on the March, too. The media will ignore them, guaranteed.

Frankly, every person who calls themselves a follower of Christ owe it to Him to work in the cause at some level. Praying, sending letters to the editor and/or your congressman, putting out pro-life phamplets in the public arena, praying at PP clinics, volunteering at PG centers/becoming informed by reading pro-life books in order to argue our position effectively, donating money to pregnancy centers and other pro-life organizations,/buying books at the book sale, speaking in schools and other public forums/helping an unwed mother with housing, clothing, food etc, mowing lawns, shoveling snow at the pregnancy centers and other pro-life organizations, trucking services, putting out fliers are just a few of the tasks how anyone and everyone can assist. If you are breathing you can help in some way! 🙂

SO TRUE, TOM! How can Big Media look themselves in the mirror and with a straight face claim to be objective??? We all need to get in there and be involved as we have the physical ability and strength! If we can’t do anything else, (such as in my case,) we should at least express our opinion in favor of life in the form of opinion letters to the newspapers. If only. . . the newspaper would print them! But we MUST keep on keeping on!

God bless the pro-life pilgrims on the march, along with those who are with them in spirit. God sees you. And though the media endeavors to cover up or slant portrayal of your witness for life, your courage is not lost either on the many millions of souls lost to abortion, who are watching with the Lord.
