What is radical?

America’s Founders: still radical after all of these years

Democrats smear Republicans for their “radical” agenda.

The definition of radical is something that is drastic or that is a fundamental change from the status quo.

Let’s take a look at a few issues with which America grapples. Let’s compare agendas.

Republicans believe we each have immutable, God-given rights, very much in keeping with our nation’s rich legacy, that God is the source of rights, not man. That is why God has historically had such a significant presence in our public square.

Democrats disagree. Their base, liberal pressure groups such as the ACLU, have fought successfully to expunge most vestiges of our Creator from the public square.

Which view is most radical?

On abortion, Republicans believe that human life begins at conception, and that we each have a God-given right to Life. This view pretty much aligns with that of our Founding Fathers.

Many Democrats, such as Vice President Joe Biden, also believe human life begins at conception, but that they are unworthy of human rights. This view pretty much aligns with those of slave holders and Nazis who viewed some human beings as being less worthy of human rights as others.

Which view is most radical?

On marriage, Republicans support thousands of years of secular human history that defines marriage as a binding covenant between one man and one woman. The purpose of marriage, in this view, is to protect children born from these unions.

Democrats believe in redefining marriage based on feelings and attractions as the foundation for secular marriage. Children are a secondary consideration.

Which view is most radical?

Regarding the nature of government, Republicans are more likely to believe the federal government should be bound by the Tenth Amendment which reserves power to the states unless it is specifically stated in the Constitution that it belongs to the federal government.

Democrats ignore the Tenth Amendment and expand the scope of the federal government with each administration, Obamacare being the most recent example. Our sprawling federal bureaucracy would be unrecognizable to our Founders.

Which view is most radical?

Our Founding Fathers were considered radical in their day. Modern Democrats agree, rejecting the foundational principles of our Founders upon which this nation was built.

Maybe Democrats are right. Maybe the Republicans are the radicals.
