By Tom Quiner

Sometimes when something seems too outrageous to be true, it’s not true.
One of those is “National Muslim Appreciation Month.” I ran a letter from a Quiner’s Diner reader expressing her shock that such a thing could happen.
I didn’t check the story out until after I posted her letter. According to Snopes, it was all a bit of satire that gained legs on social media.
Barack Obama’s antics during his presidency have certainly conditioned us to accept the outrageous as normal. Who knows, this little episode may make it back to the White House and plant the idea for another month.
For now, National Muslim Appreciation Month has been cancelled.

The more outrageously our ruling class behaves, the harder it becomes to do political satire, and the more difficult it becomes to distinguish satire from factual reporting.
