"With love like that, who needs hate?"

The Muslim scholar had an apartment in Philadelphia.
The apartment allowed him to have a dog.
He got a new job in another city, and, unfortunately, it did not allow pets.
So what was he going to do with this dog that he acknowledged he loved? Why kill it, of course.
Catholic scholar, Scott Hahn, relates this story in the video clip above. Mr. Hahn thought he was joking and blurted out,

“With love like that, who needs hate?”

The Muslim scholar was not amused, because he was dead serious. His reaction explains the dilemma Christians face when discussing their faith with Muslims. The scholar accused Mr. Hahn of blasphemy when he called God our “Father,” and when he called Jesus the “Son of God.”
Muslims do not view God as a father, since that is a human term which, in the mind of a Muslim, places limits on God. Rather, Allah owns us, we are his property, his slaves, so to speak, just as the Muslim scholar owned his dog.
Watch the clip above, titled “Blasphemy for Breakfast.” Scott Hahn explains how he tried to find some level of common ground in discussing faith as a Christian with a practitioner of the Muslim religion.
He failed.
The meeting ended badly.

Here is what Christians are up against when discussing faith with a Muslim:
    1. By believing that Jesus is the Son of God, Christians, by definition, commit “Shirk,” the one unforgiveable sin in Islam that condemns Christians to Hell.
    2. Islam teaches that Jesus was only a prophet.
    3. The Koran specifically states that Jesus was not crucified (Chapter 4, Verses 157-158).
    4. Rather, Allah raised Jesus up to Heaven.
    5. Allah made one of Jesus’ disciples to look like Jesus.
    6. And that disciple was the one who was crucified.
    7. Which means Islam teaches that the Resurrection is a myth.
    8. So, Muslims who know their religion look at a crucifix and see an imposter hanging on the cross.
But we hear that Muslims and Christians both believe that Jesus will return to earth. Except, here is how Muhammad described it:
“…He [Jesus] will descend, and if you see him, know him. He is a well-built man, (the color of his skin) between red and white. He will descend while wearing two long, light yellow garments. His head appears to be dripping water, even though no moisture touched it. He will break the cross [destroy Christianity], kill the pig, and banish the Jizyah and will call the people to Islam. During his time, Allah will destroy all religions except Islam…’Isa will remain for forty years and then will die, and Muslims will offer the funeral prayer for him.” (Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Vol. 3, pp. 31-32)
And, according to Muhammad, at that time Jesus will also be judging mankind by the laws of the Koran:
“Narrated Abu Hurairah: Allah’s Messenger said, “How will you be when the son of Maryam (Mary) [‘Isa (Jesus)] descends amongst you, and he will judge people by the law of the Qur’an and not by the law of the Gospel.’” (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 4, No. 3449)
There is not a lot of common ground here.

Apparently not. Thanks for the follow up info, Steve.

And to add to our discussion hurdles, my understanding is that Muslims believe the only truly accurate version of the Koran (Qu’ran) is in Arabic. Therefore, we cannot use an English translation as “evidence” in a dialogue. Help! — Tony
