I heard this snippet read on Fox News last  month:

images-1During the 3-1/2 years of World War II that started with the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in December 1941 and ended with the Surrender of Germany and Japan in 1945, the U.S. produced; 22
aircraft carriers, 8 battleships, 48 cruisers, 349 destroyers, 420 destroyer escorts, 203 submarines, 34 million tons of merchant ships, 100,000 fighter aircraft, 98,000 bombers, 24,000 transport aircraft, 58,000 training aircraft, 93,000 tanks, 257,000 artillery pieces, 105,000 mortars, 3,000,000 machine guns, and 2,500,000 military trucks.
We put 16.1 million men and women in uniform in the various
armed services; invaded Africa, invaded Sicily and
Italy, won the battle for the Atlantic, planned and
executed D-Day, marched across the Pacific and
Europe, developed the atomic bomb, and ultimately
conquered Japan and Germany.
It’s worth noting, that during the almost exact amount
of time, the Obama administration couldn’t design and build a
functioning web site.

What has changed?

Of course back then, no one would think to disrespect a president like Fox News does. I didn’t like when the media did it to George W and I don’t like it now, and as a life-long Republican I am ashamed of how my fellow Republicans act. Perhaps it’s because my dad was a WWII veteran and I am retired Navy.
People say it is because we have turned our back on religion, but the “religious” are front and center for the disrespect given our president today.

I don’t think Fox News is responsible for the ineptness of the Obama administration. Nor do I think George W. Bush is. Nor do I think it is due to Christians, or sunspots, or UFOs. I think the American people are beginning to realize that the sorry results of the Obama Government has something to do with their CEO.

What other president was called a liar about his religious faith? What other president was called a liar about being an American? You don’t have to agree with someone to still show respect for the person. I don’t know how much you read other blogs but it gets very mean spirited.

Suffice it to say, both sides can and have been insufferable to current and previous presidents. I have stayed away from the the president’s religion and the birther issue, because they have teen non-issues to me. I hope you find the commentary on this blog civil. Thanks for writing.

The disrespect shown to Bush was 10 times worse. That doesn’t justify disrespecting President Obama but there is a drumbeat of people now saying that he is being disrespected because of his race.
I don’t buy it and think it is racist to say that the only reason he is being criticized is racism. Hogwash.
I think he is a terrible president. To say that doesn’t make me disrespectful or a racist.
I agree that to shout “liar” at him in a public forum is very disrespectful and shameful behavior. He isn’t the first and only president to have that kind of thing happen to him though.
