The pain one feels in this world will eventually end. The pain of Hell will never end. Suicide is a sin for which you cannot repent.

God is infinitely kind. Man can’t know the mind of God. We always pray for His mercy.

God has mercy for those who repent. You can’t repent when your dead. Suicide makes you dead. That is just the way it is. Sad as it is for Mr. Williams, he did what he did willingly unlike the aborted babies that end up in Hell every day because they were murdered before they could be baptized.

There is no need to repent. Once you have accepted Christ, all sins are separated from you as the East is from the West. Psalm 103:12 (paraphrased).

Shawn, not sure where you’re coming from. What does that have to do with this post?

SKANLYN seemed to be implying that since you could not repent of the sin of suicide, that you would find yourself in Hell. My sister, who was a Christian, took her own life in September, and I asked that question to my pastor, and he assured me that in several places in the Bible, it says if you have accepted Christ as your savior, your sins, past, present, AND future are forgiven. That is my belief. I am not sure how that holds with your doctrine… I am not trying to be insulting in any way, I just don’t know Catholic doctrine well.

Thanks for the clarification. And my sincere condolences on your tragic loss, Shawn.

Depression can be a serious illness, even a disease. It can be unrelenting. Sometimes medication helps; sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve heard it said that sometimes sleep is the only escape. Some simply can’t handle the unrelenting pain of depression, which leads to suicide. May God have mercy on their souls, and I think He does.
