The hostage standoff in France was the lead article in Friday’s New York Times, as well on CNN’s website. Conspicuously absent from both articles is any mention whatsoever of the words ‘islam’ and ‘muslim’. The Times only references “gunmen” while CNN refers to the Kouachi brothers as ‘suspects’. CNN in particular appears to be stubbornly clinging to the old-school party line of addressing terrorism within the framework of a law enforcement issue by its use of the adjective ‘suspect’.

The mainstream media’s black sheep network is meanwhile describing the “gunman suspects” as islamic terrorists, which of course they are notwithstanding the NYT’s effort to sanitize a statement made by one of the survivors of the attack (Sigolène Vinson, a freelancer who had decided to come in that morning) on the offices of Charlie Hedbo. Liz Alderman of the Times writes in “Survivors Retrace a Scene of Horror at Charlie Hebdo.” that one of the terrorists stated:

“Don’t be afraid, calm down, I won’t kill you […]You are a woman. But think about what you’re doing. It’s not right.”

The original version of this article (as quoted this morning by BenK at Ace of Spades) makes a curious reference to conversion to islam and what presumably is the wearing of a burkha:

…the man said, “I’m not going to kill you because you’re a woman, we don’t kill women, but you must convert to Islam, read the Quran and cover yourself,”

Thus, the connection to islam is not only eliminated by the NYT’s (with little more than an editorial sleight of hand), but a statement not even uttered by one of the terrorists is put in place of what was actually said. Not that the NYT’s possesses any credibility to lose, but it is stooping to new lows in a desperate effort to report “news” that is firmly lockstep with the official party line (as set by the current occupant of the Oval Office).

I challenge anyone to close their eyes for a moment and imagine what the headlines would be if, say, a member of the Tea Party (or simply a registered Republican) upset by a satirical cartoon shot up a news/magazine office – would the headline omit even an indirect reference to the political leaning of the shooter? Be honest.

What is particularly frightening is that a constitutional Republic can only fully function if its citizens are informed – vast swathes of this nation are shielded from facts by the leftist press as they prove to be inconvenient to the party line that islam has no connection to the hideous atrocities and massacres occurring almost daily on the streets of most western nations.

The failure to be part of a viable and constructive resolution of a very real and mortal problem can be blamed upon a number of different things. Suffice it to say, the greatest threat to America is this habitual and deep-rooted failure on the part of the current regime and its mouthpieces to acknowledge what is playing out throughout the world, Until such an acknowledgement is made, we are doomed to a slow descent into the cauldron of terror and death.

I honestly would like to say that I’m shocked, but I’m not. Thank-you for shining a light on the MSM’s latest attempt to white wash mass murder committed in the name of Mohammad.
