Bake me a cake as fast as you can

A man walks into a bakery owned by two Muslim brothers.

He hands them the photo above and says, “I’d like you to bake me a cake just like this one.”

It is possible, even likely, that the Muslim bakers would decline the order for religious reasons.

Like Jews, Muslims refrain from consuming pork, considering it unclean.

Here is the question: would liberals and their allies in the mainstream media be aghast?

Would they turn this into a media firestorm against the Muslims? Or would the target of their anger be directed at the person requesting the cake, rather than the persons who refuse to bake the cake?

The former.

For reasons that defy logic, Muslims are considered a protected class by liberals.

The director of Homeland Security, Jeh Johnson, in recent remarks indicated that he is going out of his way to protect the backs of Muslims in this country:

Jeh Johnson

Jeh Johnson

“We in the administration and the government should give voice to the plight of Muslims living in this country and the discrimination that they face. And so I personally have committed to speak out about the situation that very often people in the Muslim community in this country face. The fact that there are 1.6 billion Muslims in the world and the Islamic faith is one about peace and brotherhood.”

Keep in mind, the biggest threat to America’s security comes from Islamic extremists who by their actions proclaim that their faith is not one of peace and brotherhood.

Keep in mind that hate crimes against Jews in this country are more than five times as high as hate crimes perpetrated against Muslims, and yet the Left fixates on Islam.

Keep in mind, Muslims in this country are targeting U.S. Citizens in the name of Allah on a regular basis. Just last week, two armed Muslims in Garland, Texas, attempted to storm an event in order to commit mass murder.

Last year, seven Americans were killed on our homeland by Allah devotees. The carnage included the beheading of a woman. The killings included 4 homosexual/lesbian victims.

How many Jews or Christians have you heard of who beheaded anyone, anywhere, in the name of God?

All hate crimes are despicable, but why this politically-correct fixation on Islam?

It is interesting that Muslims are targeting Christians throughout the world, beheading them, crucifying them, and even burning them alive, and yet the liberal establishment in this country ignore their plight. In the meantime, they go out of their way to coddle American Muslims at the same time that they make American Christians the target of their political attacks.

The biased mainstream media goes out of their way to trap Christian small business owners with gotcha questions like, “would you cater a gay wedding?” When the small business owner says, “well, I’ve never been asked,” the media presses onward with the hypothetical, “but would you?”

How come the MSM doesn’t ask Muslim bakers tough questions?

Why the double standard?

I don’t think it has to do with liberal or conservative views, nor do I think that concern for one group of people means one must feel indifferent toward another. In my opinion, all good people should be concerned for our Muslim community including religious conservatives (maybe especially religious conservatives). That said, we all can’t worry about everything. No harm can come from liberals being concerned for the welfare of peaceful Muslims.

Then why are liberals so angry at peaceful Christians?

I don’t really know. Most liberals I know are Christians too.

I think it takes a tremendous sense of self to not judge others and to not let the judgements of others affect us. When it comes to religion and politics everyone feels like they are unfairly targeted, and perhaps they’re right. Christian groups often turn against each other, vying for who is more righteous. I’m sure you’ve seen this ugliness at work as Catholics are often accused by other Christians who consider themselves more conservative. Our society has turned conservatism into a contest. We have taken the focus away from being good and put it on being right. Perhaps it will continue until we are all Puritans again. We’ve seen throughout history, when we move out of balance toward the fringes, a counter culture develops in the opposite spectrum. I’m not necessarily saying that Christians are more conservative today than years ago, but rather that the culture has moved from one of quiet practice to soapbox exclamations.

I don’t know if I can quite agree with your statement that “when it comes to religion and politics everyone feels like they are unfairly targeted.” It is Christians being killed by Muslims throughout the world, not the other way around. And in this country, Christians who wish to live out their faith in the public square are being sanctioned.
