Tom-
Any early favorites in the Republican race for you? For me it’s all Ted Cruz. I got this picture off of a post on the Ted Cruz for President facebook page.
The Republicans have a remarkably deep bench in stark contrast to the Democrats. I like a lot of them. To me, the winning ticket is Rubio/Kasich. The Republicans HAVE to take Florida and Ohio. A Rubio/Kasich ticket makes that likely. Rubio can inspire, he can lead, he is smart, and he is knowledgeable. Kasich has legislative and executive experience. As much as I love listening to Cruz, I don’t think he can rally as broad a base as Rubio. And Cruz’s experience is a little thin.
As a grad student at Liberty University, I respect Cruz for using LU as the forum for announcing his candidacy. However, I have to agree with you that Rubio seems like a better all around candidate. And I have no doubts that if Rubio gets the nomination that he will be able to pull a good percentage of the Latino vote away from the Democrats.
I do have to admit that a Clinton/Bush showdown would be epic, but regardless of which one of those two clowns got elected, the American people would end up the losers.
Steve, I know that Jeb Bush is a whipping boy for Conservatives, but I think some of the concerns are overblown. Having said that, he wouldn’t make my top 5. Thanks for your input.
