It’s time to stand up to the bullies

By Tom Quiner

Let’s begin in Iowa.

Alveda King was invited to speak at the high school from which I graduated. A couple of liberal parents complained. They didn’t think her pro life message was fit for high school kids.

The principal quickly disinvited Ms. King.

At Iowa State University, a professor was denied tenure because he had written a book on Intelligent Design, which ruffled the feathers of the atheists who dominate the university’s “religion” department.

A few years later, an atheist group complained about the presence of Gideon Bibles in the campus hotel-owned by the university. Faster than you can say Charles Darwin, they were expunged from each room.

Over at the University of Iowa, a qualified woman was denied employment in the law school. Her offense? She had previously worked as an attorney for a pro life group. For the record, just about the entire department consists of self-identified Democrats.

Iowa is a microcosm of America.

If you give money to a group that supports traditional marriage, you will be destroyed.

If you refuse to bake a cake for a so-called same-sex marriage because it violates your religious beliefs, you will be destroyed.

If you are merely asked by a journalist if your pizzeria would cater a so-called same-sex marriage and you give the wrong answer, you will be destroyed.

If your kid is stuck in a lousy school and you call for school choice, powerful unions will laugh in your face.

If your philosophy doesn’t align with a very narrow litmus test, you will be disinvited from speaking at college commencements.

If you express discomfort with Islamic terrorism, you are labeled a “hater.”

If you are merely agnostic regarding the theology of climate change, you are labeled a “denier,” a particularly vulgar characterization, used as it is in the context of the Holocaust.

If you flood your backyard to make a skating rink for your kids, you may be fined.

Government drones are beginning to fan out looking for new ways to fine regular folks just trying to live their lives.

Americans feel bullied, which is ironic since we live in a time where anti-bullying has been elevated to a religion. Only, it is the anti bullying zealots who are the biggest bullies (see above).

In perhaps the most repellant example of bullying in American history, our government exonerated Planned Parenthood for selling fetal body parts at the same time they indicted the investigative journalists who exposed the ghoulish, immoral practice.

To make the bullying all the more brazen, the office of the Harris County (TX) Attorney General who investigated the case had as one of their prosecutors a Board member from Planned Parenthood, which gives new meaning to the term, ‘the fox guarding the hen house.’

Liberals are kicking every day Americans in the teeth every … single … day. And getting away with it.

They are gutting America before our very eyes … and … getting … away … with … it.

They use shame, intimidation, and straight forward threats to stifle contrarian positions, which they dismiss as ‘hate speech.’

And they get away with it.

Decent people who embrace simple America values cower in the face of the angry mob on the left who sit on school boards, city councils, legislatures, classrooms, and press rooms across the land who sit in judgement of the rest of us.

We have been bullied by a crowd that makes the Ayatollah look like a wimp.

It is this relentless bullying that explains the Donald Trump phenomenon. Mr. Trump, a candidate I do not like nor support, is the only guy around who really stands up to the PC thought-police on the left.

Mr. Trump is no conservative, but his brazen disregard for the titans of thought control have clearly galvanized a lot of folks fed up with the deconstruction of America.

Candidates like Jeb Bush have characterized Trump as a bully. It’s a pretty fair characterization from my perspective. But conservative talk show host, Laura Ingraham, repositions the concept by  calling Trump the anti-bully.

He stands up to the mob on the Left who have normal Americans under their oppressive thumbs.

Can you count on politicians to solve the problem? No. You must count on yourself.

YOU must stand up to those who sneer at the Judeo-Christian values that made America great. Collectively, we, the little people in America’s small towns and churches need to speak out clearly and without apology on behalf of the immutable rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

We can’t stop.

Conservative politicians will be more effective if they know that they aren’t going it alone.

It’s time to stand up to the bullies.

Time to stand up to those bullies, who are in power. We try to stand up, but these pundits who are in a position to make decisions, continue to overshadow those who would fight the good fight. Time to confront them, no matter the consequences.
