“I’m not a criminal”
By Tom Quiner
Richard Nixon infamously said, “I’m not a crook.”
In the past quarter of a century, Americans have been subjected to a level of unethical activity by Bill and Hillary Clinton that makes Richard Nixon look downright saintly.
Wall Street Journal columnist, Bill McGurn, gave us a run down on the damning defense presented by an assortment of Clinton handlers and defenders over the years in today’s Journal.
Democratic Representative, Elijah Cummings, defended Hillary’s email scandal by saying that the Inspector General “does not accuse Clinton of any crime.”
In 1993 during the Travelgate scandal, Clinton’s Budget Director, Leon Panetta, said, “There were no criminal violations involved here.”
In 1994, commenting on the Whitewater scandal, White House counsel, Lloyd Cutler said, “As far as even a breath of criminal activity by either the president and the first lady, it will turn out to be nothing at all.”
In a 1998 scandal involving the appearance of hush money paid to Clinton operatives, Lani Davis said, “Those motives for helping Webb Hubbell, you can criticize or not, but they’re not criminal.”
As I write this, Ms. Clinton is being investigated by the FBI for criminal wrongdoing in her handling of her email accounts and dishonest assertions on the subject.
Team Clinton continues to claim that their gal isn’t a criminal.
What is it Shakespeare said? “The lady doth protest too much, methinks.”
She doth…oh, doth she doth.
