Sorry, Moms, your breasts are now politically-incorrect

By Tom Quiner

UnknownThe devolution of Western Civilization continues unabated.

A day removed from our nation’s celebration of Independence Day, it is time for a bucket of cold water to douse our euphoria and sober up to the realities of our waning freedoms.

The thought police now have nursing moms in their cross hairs. Politically-correct scientists no longer want breast-feeding to be labeled “natural.”

Anne Barnhill, Ph.D, co-authored a paper called “Unintended Consequences of Invoking the ‘Natural’ in Breastfeeding Promotion.” Dr. Barnhill is an assistant professor in the department of medical ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania.

She co-authored the paper with “feminist” historian, Jessica Martucci. Hmmm.

They suggest that calling breast feeding “natural” may very well run contrary to public health goals:

“Coupling nature with motherhood, however, can inadvertently support biologically deterministic arguments about the roles of men and women in the family (for example, that women should be the primary caretakers of children). Referencing the ‘natural’ in breastfeeding promotion, then, may inadvertently endorse a controversial set of values about family life and gender roles, which would be ethically inappropriate. … Whatever the ethics of appealing to the natural in breastfeeding promotion, it raises practical concerns. The ‘natural’ option does not align consistently with public health goals.”

There you have it, you lactating ladies.

Don’t get too high and mighty when you suckle your little one. Your collective insensitivity clearly supports biologically deterministic arguments of men and women in the family.

And you are surely hurting the feelings of guys who like to think of themselves as gals (except that their breasts don’t function like yours no matter how many times they tweak their nipples and chant, “lactate, lactate, lactate…”).

Shame on you, ladies!

Put your titties away in the name of political-correctness and start buying Similac or Enfamil.

The Thought Police have spoken.

    Under the guise of PhDs, they simply discovered that biology inevitably impedes gender ideology.

    I couldn’t help but think of this (below) that I heard read at Mass just last Sunday…..we’ll have to let God know that He needs to “get with the program”….

    Reading 1 Is 66:10-14c

    Thus says the LORD:
    Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad because of her,
    all you who love her;
    exult, exult with her,
    all you who were mourning over her!
    Oh, that you may suck fully
    of the milk of her comfort,
    that you may nurse with delight
    at her abundant breasts!
    For thus says the LORD:
    Lo, I will spread prosperity over Jerusalem like a river,
    and the wealth of the nations like an overflowing torrent.
    As nurslings, you shall be carried in her arms,
    and fondled in her lap;
    as a mother comforts her child,
    so will I comfort you;
    in Jerusalem you shall find your comfort.

    When you see this, your heart shall rejoice
    and your bodies flourish like the grass;
    the LORD’s power shall be known to his servants.

      What a timely scriptural reference in these nutty times. Thanks for sharing this, Jeane.

    Passing this one along, too, Tom!

      Truth is stranger than fiction in lala land.

    How should we word it when we want to say that someone has given birth to a child? Just checking since I don’t want to offend anyone.

      How about: the most amazing thing has happened … a clump of cells coalesced in my body and suddenly just kinda popped out, and my breasts started dripping white liquid! It’s a start. Don’t want to offend any of the snowflakes floating around academia.

    As a PhD here, I’m glad I’m not politically correct.

      It’s nice to know there are PhD’s who still use the brain God gave them!

        Amen! You got that right.

    Tom,

    I hate to be the one who corrects you, but you were wrong when you said this might hurt “the feelings of guys who like to think of themselves as gals (except that their breasts don’t function like yours no matter how many times they tweak their nipples and chant, “lactate, lactate, lactate…”).”

    In fact, given the right hormones, men will develop breasts and, again given the right hormones, their breasts will produce milk. The miracles of modern medicine never cease.

      I stand corrected.
