Life Chain Sunday
By Tom Quiner
This is Life Chain Sunday.
People who respect the sanctity and dignity of human life will prayerfully line a high traffic street in Des Moines on behalf of the preborn.
We’ll pray.
We’ll hold up signs of support.
We’ll smile at those driving by who honk in support.
And we’ll even smile at those who drive by with their middle finger thrust out of their car window at us, silently acknowledging their symbolic assent that “we’re #1!” [Snark warning!]
Today is important. This is an election year. It is a very clear message we’re receiving from our candidates this year, clearer than ever before.
A vote for a Democrat is a vote for more human abortion.
A vote for a Republican is a vote for less human abortion.
This point is indisputable. That’s why our 90 minutes of public prayer on a busy thoroughfare can make a difference. Maybe, just maybe, an undecided voter driving by will by convicted to cast a vote for life instead of death; for freedom instead of tyranny.
As Martin Luther King said so eloquently,
“And this will be the day — this will be the day when all of God’s
children will be able to sing with new meaning:
My country ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died, land of the Pilgrim’s pride,
From every mountainside, let freedom ring!”
Pray for Life. Pray for Freedom. They are inseparable.
God bless you! You have no idea how God will use your faithful witness for good.
