‘Russian collusion’ paradox
By Tom Quiner
Does anything strike you as odd about Democrats’ assertion that President Trump colluded with the Russians? For whatever reason?
Set aside that Hillary’s campaign paid Christoper Steele to dig up dirt from the Russians on Donald Trump.
Set aside that the Steele dossier has been discredited.
Set aside that the Steele dossier appears to be the reason that the FISA court approved wiretaps on Trump operatives.
Set aside that the Comey FBI withheld from the FISA court that it was Hillary’s campaign that had paid for this [fake] dirt on Trump.
Set aside that Christopher Steele blabbed its contents to the press to smear Trump in violation of FBI confidentiality protocols.
Set aside that, if anything, it is Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party, the Justice Department, and the FBI that is more likely to have colluded with Russian than Donald Trump, and this blog doesn’t even believe that. But if you go by appearances alone, that’s how it looks.
Here is what we can’t set aside: Donald Trump was a direct threat to Vladimir Putin. Hillary wasn’t.
Hillary Clinton hit a reset button with Putin and President Obama allowed Putin to cross one red line after another.
Putin had their number. He knew that Hillary Clinton was an inelegant continuation of Barack Obama, who was a patsy.
Donald Trump, in contrast to Hillary Clinton, loved fracking, and he echoed Sarah Palin in his cry to “drill, baby drill!”
In other words, Trump knew that energy independence is power, and oil was the ticket. Clinton/Obama were willing to cede that power to the Russian tyrant by opposing fracking and drilling in the U.S. and doing everything in their power to reduce it, regulate it, tax it, and disparage it.
And yet it is the fracking boom which has contributed to a remarkable plunge in oil prices in recent years, which has cost Putin and Russia a whole bunch of rubles.
The higher the price of oil, the more power ceded to Putin by the West.
The lower the price of oil, the more power returned to American shores.
Does anyone actually think Trump and Putin colluded to weaken Russia’s power?
Justin askin’.
That horse has been dead for a year. How many times do we have to pay to beat it before we bury it?
Lord only knows.
