My boycott of the Academy Awards continues

By Tom Quiner

The Academy Awards was the only awards show I ever watched on a regular basis.

Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal were state-of-the-art MCs. They knew how to puncture egos, poke fun at politicians and the culture in a way that made everyone laugh, including the person who was the butt of the joke. Watch a couple of minutes of Carson above as a reminder of his unmatched timing.

Things changed during the Obama years. Hollywood became increasingly strident in promoting his identity politics. They became increasingly strident in their acknowledgement that viewers who disagreed with their Left wing politics were horrible human beings.

Their smugness and loathing for flyover states was on full display for these preening peacocks.

Harvey Weinstein revealed that it was all a charade. Hollywood is dominated by hypocritical bullies leading loathsome lives and producing culture-influencing filth.

I do enjoy a good movie, and Hollywood produces some which offset the mountain of mediocrity they churn out. But the moral preening from this integrity-impaired mob is way too much for me to handle.

Goodbye, Mr. Oscar. You are history in my book.
