“The fashionable sins of today”
By Tom Quiner
Jesus was wrong.
Every Pope from Peter through Benedict XVI was wrong.
The entire illustrious Tradition of the Church, which includes the likes of Augustine, Aquinas, and Teresa of Avila all were wrong.
Newly-elected Pope Francis I will be wrong, too, and the liberal media is already grumbling.
The new Pope barely had time to pay his tab at the hostel he was staying at in Rome before being lectured by NBC medical correspondent, Dr. Nancy Snyderman:
“… poverty without birth control begets more poverty. … This is a chance to take the humility and the poverty and say now we’re really going to talk about this in a civilized way and move it forward. And we can talk about tolerance with gays and attitudes towards women. And women in the Church.”
The Catholic Church is just plain behind the times according to the hipsters on the Left.
The Church is called to publicly confess, at the feet of these liberal elite, that Jesus and His Bride, the Church, were wrong on abortion, contraception, and how to define a marriage.
I’ve got news for them, the Church isn’t going to change to accommodate their whims of the day.
I like the way blogger Rebecca Hamilton said it:
“Pope Francis is the continuation of an unbroken line of popes going back to the moment when Jesus said “I will call you Peter.” The Church as a conduit of grace, a connection to the divine and a highway to heaven is untouched, unchanged and unchangeable. Despite the rancorous demands from some quarters that the Church re-write 2,000 years of Christian teaching to excuse the fashionable sins of our day, it will never do that. It has never done that; not for kings and princes, not for tanks and guns.”
The kings and princes on the Left have no trepidation trampling on the little guy and the faithful in order to bend their will to the fashionable sins of today. They use their considerable political clout to erode the religious liberty of those who dissent.
The Left gauges the goodness of something based on feelings. Pope Francis I is going to be a dangerous adversary. He goes beyond feelings and bases actions on the timeless, unchangeable love of Christ.
The Left’s “fashionable sins of today” will still be sins tomorrow, just as they were still sins yesterday.

“Is there anything of which one can say, “Look! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago; it was here before our time.”
(Ecclesiastes 1:10 NIV)
Love this not for kings or princes
When will the dissenters of the Church “get it.” If even the Gates of Hell will not prevail against it, why do they think they will? 😀
