What is NOT news?

By Tom Quiner

Judith Miller was a reporter for the New York Times who went to jail.

She covered the Valerie Plame scandal a few years back. When pressed by authorities to reveal her sources, she refused.

For that, she spent 85 days in jail. The New York Times and their cohorts in the mainstream media (MSM) screamed to high heaven and provided lavish coverage of the story.

Jana Winter is a reporter facing the wrath of the courts, much the same as Judith Miller did. The Court wants her to reveal her sources in the trial of accused Colorado mass murder, James Holmes. Ms. Winter refuses.

And the mainstream media is silent. Why? Because Ms. Winter works for Fox News.

On the other hand, Mike Rice, has garnered a ton of news coverage. He was fired from Rutgers as their basketball coach for making homophobic slurs. (He would have been much safer to have made anti-Catholic slurs.) The three major networks lavished 41 minutes and 26 seconds of air time on the story.

On the other hand, the same networks, ABC, NBC, and CBS, have made the choice to impose a news blackout on the trial of notorious abortionist, Kermit Gosnell. He may have murdered over 100 babies OUTSIDE of the womb. We know the media is disinterested in babies IN the womb. But this story would reveal the evil of the abortion trade, and perhaps set back the cause. For that reason, these networks have devoted zero minutes and zero seconds to the story.

Recap:

New York Times reporter goes to jail. That’s news.

A Fox Network reporter goes to jail. That’s not news.

A basketball coach makes homophobic slurs. That’s news.

An zealous abortionist is a mass murderer on a scale that makes Newtown look like a warm up act, and that … is … NOT … news.

How could that NOT be news?

How?

I googled Kermit Gosnell and got 7,820,000 hits (2,810,000 videos). Although I didn’t go through every one, he did make the major news sites online. I rarely watch tv news anymore so I don’t know about their coverage. I first saw it on CNN online.

I can’t say the homophobic slurs didn’t add to it, but that coach has some serious issues. News agencies seem to like to show “the dark side” of big events such as the college basketball playoffs, so that may have something to do with it.

Until I read it here, I didn’t know anything about either reporter.

We will never overcome the mainsteam media bias as long as our faithless, radical, left wing universities continue to brainwash our kids and until we, as a country, readopt our traditional Christian faith, from which all good behavior stems.

MSM is about making money. Fox News caters to their core audience. The rest cater to theirs. The National Enquirer, once ridiculed by other media, is now the standard they all seem to emulate.
