I tend toward agreement, but I find it hard to rule out that very powerful force called fear. Islamists are not above making gruesome examples of those who outwardly oppose them.
Fear might be a factor. But the basic reason is that the American Muslims who might be so inclined to demonstrate do not have Islamic Doctrine on their side. The Islamic State (IS) is giving Christians three choices: convert to Islam, pay the protection tax (jizyah), or die; IS is beheading, crucifying, killing captives, selling captive women or simply distributing them among the jihadists, and reportedly killing women and children. All of these actions by IS are supported by the Koran and the teachings and example of Muhammad. Potential protesters have no doctrinal support to criticize IS.
I thought the protection tax was called a dhimmi or is that something else?

The Dhimmis are those non-Muslims living under the “protection” of an Islamic government. Dhimmis pay the jizyah “with willing submission and feeling themselves subdued” (Koran 9:29).

Thanks, Steve. And thanks for your new book. Quiner’s Diner will be talking about it in the days to come.
Steve, your comment makes sense to me. Thanks.
