Obama to America: “Time to get over your love affair with patriotism”

By Tom Quiner

The president knew Bo Bergdahl wasn’t a patriot.

And yet he swapped not one, not two, but five Islamic terrorists imprisoned at Guantanamo for one, America-hating sergeant.

Yesterday’s news announced that the U.S. Army is charging Mr. Bergdahl with desertion.

No one is surprised.

After all, the Associated Press reported on the story some five years ago about an internal Pentagon investigation that found “incontrovertible” evidence that Bergdahl deserted his post.

Even more, some of Bergdahl’s letters to his father were uncovered with damning exchanges like these:

√ “the title of U.S. soldier is just the lie of fools,”

√ that he was “ashamed to even be american,”

√ “the future is too good to waste on lies” …

… to which his father responded, “OBEY YOUR CONSCIENCE!”

The Army completed their investigation before last year’s elections. Of course, the findings, which make the president and his party look bad to America-loving voters, were withheld from the public until after the midterm elections.

Once again, another Obama coup turned out to be a con.

Here is what amazes. The president knew Bergdahl wasn’t a patriot, and yet announced the 5 for 1 swap with fanfare and a grand Rose Garden press conference, complete with Bergdahl’s teary parents standing on each side.

The president made himself look like the big man by feting a man he knew to be a traitor.

While this was all going on, the president refused to lift a finger for Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi, a marine imprisoned in a Mexican jail.

Sgt. Tahmooressi ran afoul of the Mexican authorities by inadvertently driving across the border with guns in his vehicle. The Mexican police pulled him over and arrested him. He was mistreated some eight months in the Mexican prison, eventually gaining release thanks to a PR campaign waged by Fox News, but no thanks to the president.

Why would President Obama go to the mat for a traitor?

Why wouldn’t he lift a finger for a Second Amendment-loving marine?

I think back to something President Obama said a few years ago:

“I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.”

In other words, the president believes exceptionalism is in the eyes of the beholder. It is a subjective, not an objective, measurement according to Barack Obama.

We’re really no better than anyone else, goes the thinking.

With that in mind, you can understand the president’s attitude:

get over your love affair with patriotism.

Obama wants us all to get over our love affair with patriotism because it stands in the way of us joining him in his love affair with himself.

… or his love affair for world government. Thanks for writing.
