Wedding at Cana DVD launch party this Saturday!

By Tom Quiner

The Wedding at Cana DVD is done!

For newcomers to Quiner’s Diner, I wrote a mini musical based on the second chapter of the Gospel of John, better known as The Wedding at Cana. The musical was performed as Catholic dinner theater in 6 Catholic churches in the Greater Des Moines, Iowa, area. Nearly 900 people saw the show.

The project was funded by a Kickstarter campaign that has enabled us to produce a high def DVD of the performance blending footage from a live performance with a controlled shoot without an audience. My hope is to export The Wedding at Cana to other parishes and dioceses interested in “evangelizing through entertainment.”

Thanks to the Kickstarter campaign, I can provide music, performance tracks, director’s notes, posters, and marketing as well as a really well-done DVD to simplify the production of local performances around the country using local talent.

This blog has readers throughout the world. For those of you in the Des Moines area, stop in to Divine Treasures Catholic Book Store (5701 Hickman Road, Des Moines, IA)  this Saturday, May 9th, from 1 to 3PM to have a Cana snack and purchase a DVD.

For Kickstarter backers, you can pick up the awards promised to your for supporting this project. If you’re unable to make it, I will mail it to you. Thanks to everyone who helped make The Wedding at Cana musical possible.

I posted above the reaction to the piece by the radio hosts for Catholic Women Now, Chris Magruder and Julie Nelson.
